Growing Citrus Trees in Containers! Garden Answer Julie: My Calamondin tree just bloomed and set fruit within the last couple of weeks. I was wondering if I could repot it now when it's fruiting? It will be going into my greenhouse where it gets pretty hot in the winter if the sun is out, and the soil in the pot will dry out faster. My greenhouse has 30% shadecloth on the roof. The vents are insufficient, so, I need to use a fan sometimes.
I hadn't thought to repot it when I first bought it. I'm worried about the soil drying out really bad and the tree dying. Outside it was fine as long as I watered daily. Plus, as it gets colder the heater will come on and the soil will dry out faster. I'm in zone 6a Pa.

I live in San Bernardino, California. I just grew my very first lemon tree from seed. Its is currently a tiny plant, no more than 4 inches tall. Its in a 9 inch pot with drainage holes. The way I water is I top water, and then whatever water drains through sits in the saucer until the plant then uses it up. I do not water or refill the saucer right away, I let it sit with no water a couple days as long as I see moister in the pot. I use this method because summers here are always high 90s into triple digits regularly. How do you recommend I best care for it since where I live its very hot?

Love your videos. Here goes nothing. Just picked up a Meyer lemon tree. A house warming gift. Im new to the Bay Area so the climate is new to me. Its been extremely dry here. I think it has rained a handful of times within a year. However, I do get fog and more wind than I expected. The plan is to have it in a pot until my landscaping is completed. Once done I will plant it in the ground. It will be at least a year wait. I have almost everything I need and hopefully I wont kill it beforehand.

I have been growing two lemon trees from seeds for 3 years and am transplanting them to a pot very much like the tree you demonstrate in your video. I just bought organic lemons and germinated the seeds. I have no idea if they will bare fruit or not. I havent seen a flower yet. Im hoping for next year.
I live in Arizona and keep them on the patio. Any tips on how to tell if they will fruit or not? Thankyou!

Ive had my orange tree for 3 years and only just have my first real orange that has made it to very nearly ripe stage. Its leaves are so sparse it looks a little like Charlie Browns Christmas tree with the orange bending the poor little dude right over.
I love it tho and Im going savour that one orange when its time.

I bought my first lime tree. It lost most of its leaves as it was infected with spider mites. I have the spider mites under control but the tree doesn't seem to want to grow new leaves. The tree keeps flowering, and I have tried to clip off the flowers to promote leaf growth but to no avail. Any tips to promote leaf growth?

Thank you on the tip about the black gardening store pot. What is going on if I have a lot of knew growth, not suckers, and there is white sticky stuff on it? Now, I do have a tree that during the fall the flowers fall. I'm just not sure. Thank you on the tip about watering. This is a good good video.

I use Plastic nursery pots or plastic 'terra cotta'
To reduce pottery weight. If they can be overwintered, I bury them in my front garden bed over winter in a fabric pot so they don't successfully root. I'm in an in ground apartment, and my landlord kinda hates to love my patio and garden beds.

I have started a lemon tree from seed. It is currently a small sprout. I want to do right by it. I am growing it in a plastic pot. The soil is designed not to dry out quickly. My question is how much water does a lemon tree sprout need? Does the tree show any signs when it needs water?
