Maintaining the Flower Beds & Planting Up New Pots at Our Church! Garden Answer DrewSorensenMusic: As pretty as Barberry are, its kind of a poor choice for a seating area, considering the spiny limbs. The limbs are bad when attached, and even worse if the shed and dry in the area. Especially an area with kids, Im surprised nobody has mentioned or complained.
I had two Barberry planted outside my front door. Ripped them out and planted Gardenia. Couldnt be happier.
Barberry is the type of plant Macdonalds and Starbucks plant outside their properties to deter people from coming up against the property. Plant it where you dont want people.

Arbs are not good for windy and extreme sun (esp yellow ones, and so she puts another variety of arbs in the planter - ones that have been sheered too. When she put that Engleman's spruce without loosening up the heavy pot-bound roots 2yrs ago, it was a disaster in the making. Lesson, don't buy Fluffy unless it has some shade and not whipped around. Using proven winner shrubs in the wrong landscape at least will help those who are interested in buying them to not make her mistakes.

Good morning from northern California! I learn something new every time I view your videos. I planted 200 daffs this year! They are the only bulbs that our wretched gophers don't eat. I knew to keep the leaves until they were dry, but did not know you could dead head them. After the much needed rain today I will be making my daffodils tidy in there their space. The Blues looks like a tree from Whoville Thank you, Laura!

Despite the same last frost date with your area, it is anxious when your daffodils needs clean up while we only see growth here in Ontario Canada. lol After heavy snow winter, shrubs like barberries and oso easy had so many broken branches. Can they / do they need to be cut back in general? Will I lose blooms from oso easy? Appreciate your daily videos as always!

Watching the part about pruning dogwoods which I didnt know you could do makes me wonder about my very old rose of Sharon which is a bit leggy. Can those be pruned? Even though there is new growth on old wood Im worried it might damage it. I would like it to be more compact and more blooms. Also how far back can you prune a lilac? Thanks for any feedback.

If I came make a suggestion. The large pots jar a little in color against the aluminum's stark white. To blend them in a little or to add a pop of color up front, either paint (use chalk paint with a sealer) the 3 ribs in white or black or 1 white on either side of a black rib in the center.

It consoles me to know, that you loose plants, too. I bought a paprika plant and didnt notice that it was infested with aphids. It spread to some of my other plants in a couple of weeks and now I am done fighting and just count my losses before it gets worse and infects more plants

It would be so cool if you could put the various previous videos that go along with the current one, such as your original planting or this area on October 4, 2019. I remembered it and went back, this was neat to see the transformation over the last couple of years. just a thought.

Love your videos. Been watching for a few years now. You have become a part of my routine. Even when I'm at work, you can find me in the breakroom, watching GA. My day doesn't feel the same unless my mornings are spent with you. Thank you for inspiring me to garden.
