Bio-Tone Starter Plus Explained Garden Answer Sweet: I was about to rip out this climbing rose I had that hadn't bloomed in about 4 years since I planted it. I thought maybe it was for a different cold hardy zone than mine or something. Turns out the store brand ROSE fertilizer I was using had high nitrogen and low phosphorus in it! It was specifically labled for roses, and I didn't bother to look at the phosphorus content, which is what helps creates blooms! Why would they do that! I switched to Espoma brand this year and you guessed it, it's blooming again! I will never use another brand! Thank you Laura for mentioning this brand, and any more info on fertilizer specifics would be great!

Earlier in the season I looked everywhere for the starter fertilizer and no one carries it. I asked at my local garden center if they could get it and they explained to me all about how its not the best fertilizer. so I explained to them all about how Garden Answer Girl swears by it, so now I feel like I cant use anything else. I went yesterday and guess what they had? BIO-TONE STARTER FERTILIZER! Yay! I feel like Im a real garden answer girl now too

Thanks Laura! What I like most about Espoma products is that they has always been organic and didn't just jump on the bandwagon when organic became popular. From their website- Since 1929, four generations of family ownership have guided our mission: Develop the finest organic gardening products that work in harmony with nature, grow beautiful gardens, and make a greener world for the future. Nice!

Hi Laura and Aaron I struggle to get this in England at a reasonable price, so it is great when you explain what makes you like the products you recommend. As it means I can go out and buy products available in England (and I am sure for other people outside America) knowing what not to or what to look for as the case may be. So thanks for the breakdown. Take care Natalie Dodson

I use this ALL the time and LOVE it! I finally ordered the Proven Winner Slow Release and the Water Soluble. I thought I had followed the directions carefully on the Water Soluble and I burnt a lot of my annuals in pots. What did I do wrong you think? I have never burned with Miracle Grow. Everybody Get the Bio Tone it is the top of the Heap as is all the Espoma.

I really appreciate this information. I have vercillium wilt in my soil and need these nutrients in my soil to bring it back to a healthy state. I am putting one part composted material, one part G B soil conditioner and one part of the origanal soil together when i make a new flowerbed or just plant a new plant. So far so good. I am zone 8b eugene Oregon.

I discovered my new potting soil was 1 3/4 years old. I just purchased it from a large hardware store. I already potted my seedlings before I saw the date. It's been 6 weeks, they have their true leaves but are slow growing. Would it help to put one granuale of Biotone on top of the soil of my seedlings? They're in a 72 pot tray.

Whenever I can find it I buy several bags of Espoma products. Unfortunately in my area even our big box stores dont really carry this brand or they only can one or 2 items. I have never come across this item and its like $30 and up on Amazon so Ill have to find their competitor I guess. Why DOESNT ESPOMA sell in California!

To: Espoma, Im in South Carolina and can find all your products but Bio tone starter. I have had to order it online which is costly. I even thought you must have discontinued it and replaced Bio tone with plant tone. Any suggestions on how to get it here cheaper or where I can find it? Thanks
