Flowerbed Makeover: Plant Choice, Spacing, & What to Expect from a New Space! Garden Answer Robin: Oh how I wish I was your neighbor! For about 15 years, I've been trying to figure out my front flower beds without success. I decided this was THE YEAR. After A LOT of research and planning, it went in. It's not 100% what I want but I'm hoping that adding a soaker hose and researching the plantings more will help things survive this time. This looks great. I could have completely copied it because (minus the railroad ties) mine is the same. And I went with pink and white as well. I need to add more but I'm going to wait until things full in so I know where I have space. Thank you for this awesome video. I'll refer back to it as I continue to get mine where I want it. I'd love a video on how to set up drip systems. You usually speed through that part.

Great garden makeover! What a sweetheart you are to do that for a friend. I dont know if you ever go back and see comments on older videos, but if so, I have a question. The containers that you used at the bottom of the steps- can you please, please, please give the name and company who makes them. Ive seen those in 2 of your videos now, and I must confess that I am obsessed with them. I have scoured the internet and even took a photo to my largest local garden center, but to no avail. I have not been able to find them or anything similar. They would be perfect for my front walkway, and I would love to find them. Any help is appreciated.

Lovely job Lauren and Aaron. I always admire your outreach to other people and helping them re-landscape their property. But my question is what is that fuchsia red sentoria plant at the right-hand corner of the house by the miscanthus? my sister just sent me a picture from Boise of a very similar bushy fuschia colored plant that she was curious about. I have never seen one in Michigan so what is it anybody know if it is centauria or something similar I couldn't quite get the name from the video. Help, from a devoted viewer

Awesome again, love to see you in a different space, you are such a great friend and you come up with so many great combos of plants that just really pop. I love the roses and the pop of pink against the dark siding, these beds are going to be stunning when they fill in, so excited to see updates on all of the new projects. Thanks again Laura and Aaron this was such a fun video and gives me so much inspiration. Take care and I will see you in your next video, sending love and hugs, bye for now.

You really just have a knack for plants. I mean I am new to gardening but I watch ppl and your just very familiar with how to make it all come together. I unfortunately rent and between my neighbor and I, we've retransformed our yard so much, but it needs a ton of work and it's to bad it's not a forever home bc in the end it's going to really look awesome. So thank you because you're my inspiration and I wanted to just let you know I truly think you're amazing. So I look forward to more.

Roses overwhelm me. There's so many types. Which kind of rose is the kind that would ramble over a fence or arbor and look so beautiful? My mom has climbing roses, and they are so sparse looking. And my neighbor has some bush roses. And his are sad looking too. Other than in photos, I've never seen a nice full rose plant. And then the blooms? Don't get me started. There's so many different types of blooms. I feel like I need a quick, down and dirty roses 101 course lol

As you mentioned the concrete around their flower bed, reminded me of the layers upon layers of rocks that my previous house owners had in the front of the house, so I ended up just using containers to plant flowers in. I would like to plant flowers in the ground. My question is should I dig up the many layers of rocks or just pile on layers of soil on top of the existing rocks and then plant my flowers in the ground that way? Someone please help! Thanks!

I love the contrast that the wood barrier gives for all of the plantings. You did a great job with choosing the variety of plants that you used in the flowerbed! One question. what is the hole for to the right of the stairs at the edge of the grass? My daughter's class had their graduation parade today. It was different, but we all had fun and it was heart warming to see all the community support. We sure felt the love.

Hi Laura and Aaron! What a thoughtful thing you did for your friends! I think the beds turned out really pretty. Those pink roses look so good against the wood siding and the grass, flowers and sedum are perfect colors to go with them. The other bed will be so pretty when it fills out, too. Thank you so much for sharing this, and thank you to your friends for letting you video it. Can't wait for the update later on.

QUESTION. Hi! Can you talk about preparing a new bed around a mature tree that has a lot of surface roots? How would you edge it when you cant put borders over these large roots? And how would you clear out all the grass and weeds without damaging those large roots or your tools? Id like to just use a tiller because its a pretty large space (two trees with surface roots) but Im nervous.
Thanks so much!
