For newbies to caladiums. They do not like cold soil. Will not grow when soil is cold until it warms up. Not all bulbs will have a bud beginning. Don't worry when you see roots on bulb plant that down in soil. IF no roots plant bulb on it's side. Don't worry if you plant upside down cause it will still grow down and make a U turn and grow up. I accidentally did that with couple of bulbs and was shock to see this happen! IF you are not in hurry caladiums will multiply every year. I use store them in a brown paper bag and stored in basement. Hard to find brown paper bags now and I quit growing them for awhile. Good Luck!

I adore Caladiums, have a packages of bulbs to plant. What Ive read so far says if you wait and plant when warm, they'll grow faster than they will if you plant earlier in colder. If that makes sense, do you agree? Planting them is my big treat I can't wait to enjoy. Thanks for this video, going to plan to save these bulbs this year. Can you save them in a plastic container nested in shredded paper? The rats nest in paper boxes so if the bulbs need to be in a paper box in order to breath, I'd have to save them indoors, not ideal.

You probably get tons of messages and questions but I have one and youre the only person I know that would know the answer! When we moved into our current house, the rows of arborvitae around the property were all dead at the bottom - all the way up about 3. 5/4 feet. I know that you cant do anything with dead arborvitaes to bring them back. Do you have any suggestions? Is there anything that we can plant in front of them to cover it? Any vine that will climb them and cover the bare areas?

Hey Laura! Ive been watching for years and I always enjoy your videos. It always inspires me to work out in my yard. 2 unrelated questions. Do you plan on planting a black swan beech like your last house? And I was wondering if you could do a pruning video for regular petunias? I wanted to use some supertunias but I couldnt get my hands on them and now I have a tone of regular petunias and I want to make sure Im pruning them well

Hit the wrong button should say garden beds. You are on a ladder, get off, find a safer ladder. 1 year ago I fell off a ladder, crushed my heel. Two surgeries latter and nearly a year I can hardly walk this is a life changing accident. I love outside work, and would tackle any job, now I use a golf cart to do yard work, and can maybe make it 2 hrs, then set the rest of the day with my foot up. Please do it safer.

I love your choice for plants in that large bed, one other person suggested painting the cement border, I like the idea of black as well. That lemon coral sedum is so pretty and really does go with the Caladiums, which are every bit gorgeous themselves, I will love seeing the progress of this bed. Thanks once again for sharing, stay safe and I will see you soon, sending love and hugs, bye for now.

I love the look but I never would have thought of combining the sedum and the caladium. I always think of them as at opposite ends of the spectrum with regard to light and water with the sedum preferring full sun and drier conditions and the caladium preferring shade and moister conditions. I guess these new cultivars are making lots of new combinations possible. Anyway, looks great!

Hey there! Thanks for another great video. Off topic question. but you always mention being cognizant about foliage mixing of green, red/purple, yellow, and blue. Have you ever thought about adding white to your foliage must-haves? For instance. variegated willow bush? I recently added this color and have found that it adds a great look to the mix. Thanks for all that you share!

What an incredible tree trunk! I never dreamed that a mulberry tree could grow that huge! So excited to see this video. Just bought a batch of caladiums which I'm getting ready to plant. Love the idea of using the lemon coral sedum as a border! Please be sure to give us an update later so we can see how they do. Now I'm going to go watch how to lift and store caladiums!
