Planting a Mixed Succulent Container for the Garden! Garden Answer Trace: I love succulents and they are so easy to propagate. My problem is that I have very little natural light in my house. I used to work in a largely abandoned office building so I would just move my succulents and potted geraniums to work to over winter. I have been relocated so I no longer have those great big windows at my disposal.
I have a grow light, but I do not nearly as much success at overwintering. Last year, about half of the succulents survived, but look terrible. I was still able to propagate the survivors, but I had to buy more replacements than I care to. The one you have, elephant bush, I have never had much success overwintering.

Your plants (especially on the tall center choices) would color up so much more beautifully if you would work with them as cuttings instead of the root ball. This is a lovely arrangement, but succulents are so forgiving - if your viewers aren't familiar - no root ball necessary at all! I would do this pot using cuttings only - lasts longer, give gorgeous color and easy peasy!

Love the arrangement and watching you put it together was really helpful. Ive never really been into succulents but after seeing that I want to give it a try. Question though - I was given 2 succulents that have gold painted tips which I dont care for. I think they are an echeveria type of succulent, do you know how I can safely remove the gold tipping on the plant?

Beautiful planter. Beautiful arrangement. Beautiful video. I have all my succulents outside and I live in Arkansas, and they do well. I tried to plant mine close together like you do but I just couldn't make it work. Maybe with some practice. Plus all of my family kept saying how crowded they looked. lol. Loved this video so much!

Hi Laura. I would love to do something like this, but have been afraid to as Im not sure it will handle our winter (I live in a zone 5b. Can it be left out over the winter or must it be brought in the house? Dont have a green house. Your feedback on this question would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How are the succulents doing with all of the rain you've been getting? I too planted a small arrangement and we are expecting rain for the next 3-4 days. Is is recommended to move them out of the rain or will they be okay? We're expecting to get over an inch.

Your mom has taught you well in the art of floral design and you applied that art to be used on live plants. Very talented. I had never thought to use my floral arranging skills on live plants. Ah ha moment! Thank you!
