Planting Strawberries for Benjamin in Stock Tanks! Garden Answer Lavender: I moved to Puerto Rico 8 years ago and moving from NC to her planting wise has been a struggle i don't have a flat ground surface to plant in ground garden but i have standing raised beds 6 and containers. Its hot all year round my yard is full sun all day we are zone 13 A. I just received 20 bare root strawberries they look like the are really green on top. I have never grown strawberries from bare root. only from plants. so what to do any advice. thank you

Are you concerned about the stock tanks getting too hot to touch? I read this: They also mentioned the planters can not only dry out faster, but can get hot in the sun (they are metal. It's something to keep in mind if you have littles or pets running around, to make sure it doesn't get so hot in the sun you'll get burned if you lean on it like a hot car.

I garden in those tanks. You had better drill several drain holes and the bark nuggets will block your ONE drainage hole! You will lose all your plants if water sits on the bottom. Ive been using these tanks for 5 years, they must have more drainage. You can put lava rock in the bottom and cover it with landscape cloth so the dirt doesnt block drainage.

You are so good of all of things for garden, I wonder why One you never have hat or putting your hair up? And second why never use any gloves? And you dont have mask either? I cant not even one second do that stuff you doing without gloves and my hair up. Its not healthy to breath or something goes to your eyes or your mouth when you are always talking.

I know this comment is a month late, but the couplers that are pulling away from the drip tubing appear to be netafim couplers (maybe, if so, those have a 50psi clampless pressure rating. If your system is over 50psi output, that's probably why it's happening. Consider a pressure regulator (or double check yours if you already have them.

We use the cheap black burn barrels you can pick up for $10. My husband makea sure they come with lids. We drill holes in the bottom and then use the lid to make a shelf inside about 15 down and fill the bottom with two big rocks so its not top heavy. Then put my annuals in them in front of the barn. They are up high and easy to move!

I have to agree with the comments, as much as I love your daily tutorials I love the interaction with you and Aaron. He has got the best sense of humor and you play so well off each other. I am really thinking about a galvanize tub like yours and I can put a partial fence in it to keep out the deer. What a great idea.

They look beautiful! What a great idea! I think Ill be doing this here since Ill have to move them when it gets too hot. Also, I dont know how I knew but I knew that water would spray out when you went to puncture the line. Its happened to me a few times! Hilarious! thanks for keeping it in the video

I have been considering stock tanks for a couple of years now to plant in front of windows as screens. I even bought the spray paint (burnished amber. You have re-inspired me! I need something 5-6' tall & evergreen (no juniper or pine, allergies) any suggestions? (zone 7, S. Oregon) Love the videos!

I don't know if someone already mentioned it, but the drain holes in the stock tanks screw out with a 1/2 ratchet head, leaving the rubber gasket behind. It makes it a lot easier to open and close the drain if you only remove the white part with the square hole instead of the whole thing.
