Beautiful Trellises & Planting Pink Mink Clematis! Garden Answer Maria: Hello Laura, The last shot of the completed section of your garden is very beautiful. What I love about your garden ( not only the lovely structure and plants you use ) is the strategic places you put your outdoor seating. I used to think you had to get the same type of furniture, but I was wrong. You have difference types of outdoor settings in well placed sections of your garden and they are all different. This seem to add more interest by doing it this way. Anyway, I love it. Best wishes to you and your family. Love from Australia.

Thank you for the information. I just moved into WA, and working on the garden in an apple orchard community. There is an existing Clamatis growing in partly shade/partly sunny region on side of the house, but it has not been trellis'd. I just lays on the ground. My husband just built a trellis, and I going to used our recently apple tree pruning branches as horizontal rungs, but I don't know how much/aggressive to unfurl since much of the plant has entwined onto it self. Any ideas? thank you!

Beautiful. I love all of your little vignettes of sitting areas, they are beautiful! However, you never sit down! You have the most energy of any person Ive ever seen anywhere! What an amazing person you are to watch. I dont have much of a garden yet because I just moved into my home and there is no irrigation or viable soil right now. I keep myself happy with pots of assorted plants. I really enjoy watching all of your ideas and how you think things out in your areas. Thanks for filming!

Clemitas need to be planted deeper than your other plants. They break the rules about dirt up around the top. You should also soak them before you plant them. They want their roots warm and their leaves in the sun. Other plants around them like you have is highly suggested. Roots are very sensitive might not break them up. I know this because I have been researching this plant and have listened to the gardners who specialize in Climatis.

Would you please consider a video on clematis as ground cover? I know Don Cherry (in Ontario, Canada) grows all his as ground cover and I understand that that's a huge trend that has come back in the UK. I'm going to take a chance and plant one for ground cover as an experiment but would LOVE if you could give some guidelines. Thank you, as always, for your great information.

What happened to the Climatis you planted on your trellises? I have been researching these plants. They need to be planted lower then their they were in their cans. They need their roots warm. Plant other plants almost on top of them to keep them warm. Lots of water. Moist but well drained. Do not fertilize them when blooming or have blooms on them.

Put small concrete pavers under the trellis legs for support. You want to lessen the weight on the screws in your siding. The screws are to keep the trellis from falling over, not to support the entire weight. Also you should calk around the screws if you haven't already.
You're so casual about drilling holes into your siding!

Yes it will look great, but not very much? I think $100 each is alot of money to spend on something your going to cover up. You could have probably built your own for lots less expensive. $300 is the entire yard budget for most people and you are using that on just one item, not including plants.

I love watching your videos! I have learned so much! Clematis are my favorites!
Curious about the border plants in the bed at the corner of the house. Would you tell me what they are?
Thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens with us!
Blessings and hugs

Hope you planted your clematis deeper just in case you get clematis wilt! To insure that it can come back from the roots. I agree love it. Yes scary to think about having trees dropping branches and hurting someone! If it was me, no ma'am that tree has got to go. Lol
