New Houseplants & Staining a Concrete Statue! Garden Answer Eva: I seem to be the only one who is not keen on the bronzing of the statue. It does not look like bronze. it looks inauthentic. It is a very pretty statue with a lovley lower area. It just needs a few plants to cascade over the bottom of the base to integrate it into the landscape. I think it deserves to be seen in its full presentation. I also hope Laura can find time to research stains that are made out of more natural materials and give any future statues a more authentic finish.

Oh gosh I love how you just go for it in every thing you try! I didn't get to have coffee with this video as I had to be out early this morning but it was so enjoyable to see later in the evening as well! Also love all those new house plants and we were just looking at a terrarium similar to yours in Michael's last weekend. Now I am going to have to go get it and try some ferns in it! By the way I think the statue looks great!

This such a neat coincidence, my sister and I bought theses really nice Boston Ferns this year and were talking today about trying to save them for next year. What your best advice on how to do that? We have no closed porch. Garage is pretty dark. Greenhouse is not heated. We live in the frigid north of PA, so winter is the real deal here. They are sooo beautiful cant bear to leave them go.

Love, love, love, love the way your statute came out looking, she looks bronze which I love! I will definitely try it with some concrete bird bath I have and other pieces I have in my garden. Ive been wanting to change their look because here in Ga you tend to get moss growing on brick, wood or concrete Ive noticed since a year ago now that I moved here. Thank you

I love that Frankie foitonia, I want, I don't have a lot of light. Love how that came out, what a nice terrarium. Would like to find one just like it. That's so sweet Aaron got that statue for you, I would his put her away for
awhile, then when you bring her out again, you may find you still like her, you just needed a break from her.

I bought a whole bunch of little houseplants recently and one was a galaxy false Aralia which is actually a tree that will grow to about 6ft tall in a pot. My husband is already annoyed with my plant obsession. He's gonna be mad when he realizes I literally brought a jungle home.

Laura, I always double glove, especially on the hand that I use to stain or paint, since I must be very enthusiastic when I use a brush or cloth to stain. What is nice is that, if the outside glove doesn't have holes, when I take them off. I can reuse the glove(s) again.

Laura, I would have rested the statue on it's back & tested the paint at the bottom of the base, before going on with the staining. Also, I would place it where the entire statue is show case. It is a beautiful statue to be hidden away. gardenanswer

My purple waffle plant got the boot after a year, sent her to Massachusetts. She wanted water every 3 days and if I didn't give it to her she would fall over dead until I gave her water. Then she lost the bushiness of her leaves. She had to go!

I love how all of the lovely subtle details are so visible with the final stain results! I have a fountain that needs some sprucing up. Is there a specific product you recommend for staining when the item will be in constant contact with water?
