What to do if Your Bulbs Come Up Too Early Garden Answer Ilean: I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee This was my first time to plant tulips. My husband and I were hit by the tornado sound Easter 2020 and I had a lot of space from where are trees were taken away. Call together with a hyacinths and tulips and some other spring bulbs I planted about 1400. Needless to say they are popping out our weather has been 70 and above since Mid-December. I didnt have any March but I did pull up all the Pineneedles that I had in the yard that I did not playing any tulips bulbs and have tried to cover them up will this be sufficient. I have been getting very excited after watching your videos to wait to spring to say my tulips come up and Im very upset that I will not have any.

Yikes! The weeds are growing everywhere! I sure wish mother nature would make up her mind. LOL LOL! I know, I know it's climate change. My bushes & my trees budded up & the dog gone weather dropped & all the buds froze. Now the next time they will not bud up as much dang it! Lord I hate mowing in the cold, but if I wait I know it will rain. Well as we say in Texas if you don't like the weather. Wait 5 minutes & it'll change! I feel like a dang Jack-in-the-Box! Warm cold, warm cold. One minute I'm putting on more clothes & the next getting out of them. GEEZZZE!

Great video, but here in Idaho I don't think I will have to worry too much about my tulips peeking out, unless they can sprout out of a foot and a half of snow, ya, it's nothing but white around here. Thanks so much for sharing, there have been a few years when they have peeked out early and I did worry it was too soon, but now I know what to do just in case. Have a wonderful day see you soon.

I think zone is important here. I don't know about zone 6 or colder, but I have gardened in zones 7, 8 and 9 and the bulbs starting to show now, or earlier as happens here, is normal and all should be well even with the upcoming winter weather. Of course, if one has the money, time, and energy, putting out extra mulch won't hurt anything. :)

Thanks for this video! I had a question. I'm in Texas and my gladiolus are already coming up. I planned to moved them this spring because I planted them too close to the front of the flower bed. Yikes! Anyways since they are coming up now would you recommend moving them soon or wait until later this spring like I originally planned to do?

Hello there, wow this message was so on time. I went to Wlamart today and they have shelves full of the lilies that have already began to sprout some even flowered already. I purchased a few and was going to plant them for them to continue now that I see your message I will plant and put mulch over.

My grape hyacinths routinely bolt and it is not a problem-except rabbits eat the leaves- (Irish Spring Soap to the rescue, but I had daffodils come up early one year, they looked fine, but 90% of the flower buds just never opened. To tall to cover, it was just disappointing. Hoping for cooler temps!

Thank you for this tutorial Laura. I live in MI and our lilacs are budding out and also saw some big buds coming out on magnolia's - and it's scary. We haven't hit winter stride yet and I'm sure we will be getting some harsh weather. Hopefully they will survive it.

Do lilies need the cold striation like other bulbs? (Orientals, Asiatics and hybrids in particular. I have the dilemma of Lily bulbs arriving too late in the fall to plant so am wondering if I can just pot them up in the house? Thank you from North Idaho!

Repurposing the tree is a great idea. It has been a mild fall here in NJ and the daffodils I planted in late October were starting to sprout in November. I ended up adding a layer of bark mulch - glad to see in your video that what I did was correct.
