Planting a Hoops Blue Spruce! Garden Answer Jonahs: Just from first glance. split tree trunk appears to have been struck by lightning. Not sure that's what happen but many trees that have been struck by lightning have obvious damage. Not all trees struck by lightning have burned marks. According to my mother's farming experience, some trees struck by lightning will leave a lightning bolt rock or stone inside of them.

Hi. Love your videos. Question: What can I plant for privacy that grows fast, does not require full sun, and hopefully has flowers? Any advice is appreciated! My neighbor already has a huge 'hedge' of spruce on the adjacent edge of her lawn and I don't want to inundate her with more if possible. But I love the blue spruce you just planted. So gorgeous!

What a great addition to the garden. I cant wait to see what you plant around it. I recently got a root ball boxwood wrapped with burlap. The burlap was sewn together with nails, have you seen this before? It was extremely difficult to remove the burlap and nails, any tips other than just fight thought it?

What are some good spruce trees to plant that dont get past 20 ft tall? I prefer green over blue but not against it totally. I live in iL and anything zone 5-8 is good here. We get a tone of deer and they ate almost all my emerald green Arborvitae trees: . I even fenced them off

Question: I noticed the small solar light in this garden bed and realized you do not discuss garden lighting - do you have plans to focus more on garden lighting? Lighting has made a huge impact on my garden, and would love to see your insight on low voltage garden lights.

Oh, I love this! Since its a 3-8, do you think something like this could possibly survive 9a (we used to be 8b, north central FL, Gainesville? It may just be too hot. Im on the hunt for blue evergreens that can survive here. I have just planted a blue point juniper. Thanks!

Laura I cringed for your poor feet when I saw you jump on that shovel! They need to come up with a more cushioned shovel where your feet jump on! Maybe you can invent that! Did you move the tulips over when you dig the hole?

Is there a miniature blue spruce? I am hoping no more than 5 feet wide and 15 feet tall? I love the look of them but whenever I read the label they will get too big for my space. I ended up getting a blue juniper instead.

Does your area have needle wasting decease? I am loosing 2 0f 3-25 ft Colorado Blue Spruce to this decease. I have been spraying for 2 years but MSU Extension said all Spruce suffer from this eventually.
