Transplanting 9 David Austin Roses! Garden Answer Muktha: I am so new to gardening and am very apprehensive to plant roses too soon. I'd love to see a more detailed video just on pruning the roses - you covered a lot of pruning in this video, so I think I have an idea. My struggle with digging up root balls and transplanting anything is digging the depth of the new hole correctly so that the surface of the transplanted root ball is the same as what it essentially was. Laura, you make it look so simple! You are such a motivator.

Beautiful rose shrubbery! Quick question; my raspberry canes were all beginning to bud up, but I had not Ever pruned them, so I cut them down to about 10 or 15 cm above their soil. They had been covered with compost late fall and goat manure earlier this year. Do you think they will be okay? 5 are red early raspberry and 2 are late blooming golden raspberry.
All of that and I am living vicariously through you! Roses do not grow here!

Oh I can't wait to see what this row of roses are going to look like when they bloom. I love this garden that you planted them in and I have been anxiously waiting for you to plant more in this area. Why not plant some smaller roses that don't get that big in the area between the brick walkway and the driveway with companion plants around them and benches like you said. That would be beautiful!

Oh my goodness Laura
totally didn't expect how to transplant roses lol
I have two rose plants a white and red on the edge of my fence and don't have the guts to to pull them out. I've been taking cutting and planting them elsewhere. I was gasping at how you dug them out, lol so I'm going to transplant to a more favorable spot and feel good about it

Thank you Laura and Aaron for being an inspiration for all us to get out and get busy. little Samantha is soooo cute. Goodness she is growing sooo fast. Say hi to little Benjamin. be blessed.

Hi Laura! I recently installed a drip system in my garden but I see you use a 1/2 drip tube. I didn't realize they had that size so I used the 1/4 drip line tubing. What is the difference? Is the 1/2 a stronger drip or something? Sorry, it may sound like a silly question but I really don't know much about this drip irrigation stuff.

Are you keeping the Distant Drums Roses? Id love to hear your thoughts on them!
I planted Boscobel, Bolero, Princess Charlene de Monaco, Distant Drums, Dee Lish, Twilight Zone and Life of the Party last year. Oh and climbing Icebergs! They are all own root and looking good so far. I went a little rose crazy last year! Oops

How do you know if one of your transplants have suffered or died? I didn't transplant roses but I did transplant butterfly bush that was so big and beautiful and now I do not see any activity and I am afraid it might've died. Should I just wait and see or is there a way to tell if it has succumbed?

i dont even need to trim my roses, or anything actually! the rabbits eat everything so much fun
anyways, its funny to see how you're able to reuse those stakes so readily, meanwhile one year outside caused one to partially dissolve into rust, ah the joys of rainy climates with very acidic soil
