Planting the Cold Frames in Front of the Greenhouse!
video description
I cringed when i saw u using hardwood. Those 2 loads where i live would have cost $300.
So many people such as myself wld b blessed 2 have that hardwood. It looked dry.
As for breaking down. Lol. depending on how long its been sitting outside b4 u buried it. Probably will take 4 yrs.
Hugelkulter is when one uses more rotten and decayed wood. You've created a great place 4 voles and moles 2 live. Id never put wood up against that brick either. U shld have put a piece of plastic or waterproofed membrane. Maybe you presealed the brick?
Now 4 settling. Why didn't you add more soil, then let it settle 4 a week at least.
Usually I day all nice stuff but this video stunned me. You've worked with raised beds enough 2 know how much that soil is going 2 settle.

How EXCITING for you & your family Laura! I know how much youve been longing for this day! I love, love, love seeing good people who have been working hard towards their goals, being able to finally enjoy their reward! On a side note, I cant wait wait to see a tour of both the properties, once all of your bulbs are flowering. Its a bit of a catch-22 for me here in Australia as one hand Im willing your bulbs to flower every day just so I can see how beautiful they look, but on the other hand it means we will be heading into Winter here. Although in fairness Im in a zone 11, so our Winters are no where near as harsh as yours. Everyday I watch that days vlog, and then when Im a little bit sad that the vlog is finished, I go back through the vlog archive & watch episodes Ive not previously seen which makes me happy again. Keep up the great work you all do. Bron, New South Wales, Australia

Im beyond happy for you and Aaron. Im anxious to see this in progress. So I have a story to tell you. My friends moved to Fruitland on this past Friday. We stopped in on Saturday to your parents garden center purely on a fan based adventure. I must say, every one there was happy and helpful. I went to find your Moms sedum frame and its gorgeous! As I was walking around I passed some one, and as I looked down I saw leopard Vans. I looked up and it was you! I said to my self oh my goodness and just giggled and smiled! I continued on my adventure around the garden center, my husband called me and I answered with I know! You were videoing, so I didnt want to bother you, but I will say, you made my day and week! Thank you for your inspiration and for letting us in on your life. Youve made this fan very happy!

Benjamin: We have a big problem. We need Chad to come and fix all the rocks out.
OMG, that was the best, he is not only every bit your boy with the get this fixed attitude, he looks just like you, the way he spoke, facial expressions, this not only made my day, I'm pretty sure it's made my week because nothing else can top that. Great job Laura and Aaron! thank you for including that: )

Neat and tidy! Wondering how you Mom taught you that and find it very inspirational! I also immediately thought that you were going to do wood, then rose prunings then raised bed mix. guessing it will take more like 5-8 years for wood in your dry desert to break down, even with drip on top. the wet side, 2-3 years.

Oh my, dearest Benjamin! He just melts my heart. And look at that willow tree budding out! Spring is poking its head out for sure. I really love the cold frames. They are going to look incredibly beautiful as they fill up with all those plants. I cant wait to see what you and Aaron do around the Hartley!

Thats a lot of bags. Please consider donating the empty bags to a film recycling event. Our local rotary club collects film plastic bags, sends them to a facility to be pressed into bales then sent to Trex. Trex rewarded the effort by donating a Trex bench back to the community.

I love seeing how very excited you are to plant there for the first time. It's been a journey from seeing the Hartley in England years ago to now planting in your own. I'm so grateful that you have shared the journey with us and of course there will be much more to come: )

Tell me about your orange kitties-Cheddar and Chester? I love seeing them hanging out with you. Do they have somewhere to stay when its cold? My kitties stay inside as I live in the city but they have a screened porch they adore.
