We Bought Something New! Garden Answer handmade: Looks like developers are building homes fast all around you and some day soon, plots of land like this near your house, where you can plant trees, will be hard to come by.
Sounds like you've made up your mind on what you wanna do. But why not make it something all your neighbors can enjoy for years to come?
I would plant groves of shade trees around the perimeter with a meandering walkway where people can go on morning and evening strolls. Make the middle look like a meadow with a pond and a charming clubhouse that you can use as a wedding venue and charge good money for people to host events there. They can pay an additional fee to use flowers from your new cut flower garden.
Wedding pictures would look amazing with your cut flower garden and an open lawn with trees in the background. You can have your compost pile in a hidden corner of the garden.
Seems like you have a lot on your plate with your house and all the projects you do already. But I'm sure we'll love whatever you decide to do with this new project!

Just a thought- maybe you can create a private park for the neighborhood. If your neighbors got to appreciate the plants as a result of seeing your vision come to life, they may be inclined to invest in their property. Your whole neighborhood would benefit. Just by planting trees- it increases your property value, and you'd all live in a fragrant and beautiful place.

Such MARVELOUS potentials going on. Very excited for all these brand new adventures. In the 1970's I was part owner of a nursery & our growing grounds were 2 acres of a wonderfully awesome playground for me. Grew everything, my 2 sons were young, cherished memories & a love for all the indoor & outdoor plants available from Mother Nature. Priceless!

We use wire mesh (cement reinforcement wire ) about 6 squares? We cut it and roll it into about 2' diameter by 5', tall, roll and stake it upright with a piece of 1/2 by 8' rebar we use this for our tomato plants it will last for ever, is inexpensive. Our tomatoes grow up and over the top and are easy to reach.

I have been watching alot of your videos for some much needed info for this new gardener these past few years. Many helpful ideals and how to plan. I have the last two years been buying perennials to fill up my garden beds. Not doing to bad I would say, thank you and keep the helpful videos coming.

It may be a good investment for your acre of flowers to plant protective plants like trees and hedges or maybe a rock wall border? I know from previous videos that you've had issues with the wind, and that lot is VERY open right now. I know you'd hate to see all your beautiful flowers torn asunder.

So excited for you and your family. OMGosh can not wait for the planting of the cut garden. Have been in the planning stage for over a year just really not knowing how to do it. I was so excited when I heard you say cut garden. Now I will get the great advise I desperately need.

We moved across the country last year, and the homeowner offered to sell us the land across the street from us. We didnt and now wish we had because an investor bought it and is building two homes on it. Were extremely disappointed and saddened by this. So, good for you guys!

I live in Humboldt County (norther California) and blackberrie bushes sprout everywhere and are difficult to manage. Whenever I hear someone mention that they want to grown blackberries, I cringe. Also, I can't wait for all the new projects and videos.

Hopefully maybe you can do a video explaining the process of acquiring a piece of land and all the planning and considerations that go into it. I'm really curious why it takes 2 years and the consent of your neighbors to buy a piece of property.
