Planting A Pear Espalier & Hops (+ A Few Other Gorgeous Things! Garden Answer Stephanie: Oh my gosh, Laura, I'm just coming across this video because I was hoping you had a tutorial on planting hops. I lost one of my best friends last year very suddenly, and his daughter gave me his hops plant when they sold his house, as we shared many beers together over the years. Now I'm thanking the lord I left it in the pot until I could plant it. I know this video is a year old. I think I found you about this time last year. You never fail to deliver and amuse me with your scattered thoughts. and I say that lovingly because I am exactly the same and it makes me feel right at home watching and listening to you. Thank you for making me feel normal! :)

You have no idea what you started with this video I fell in love with that espalier pear which led me to pinterest and I went right down that rabbit hole. So, after hours upon hours (more like days) of hyperfocus on espalier I now have apple tree maidens planted along the fence by our patio that will be espaliered on it. And it's all your fault Thank you! I was going to order them pre trained but then I decided that I wanted the experience of doing it myself - I'm sure I'll regret it by the end of the season because I'm such a instant satisfaction type of girl

Awesome beds I love everything you planted and I've had my eye on those raised beds, maybe next year. I have always enjoyed your videos, but when you stopped to admire the bumblebees, I decided I like you even more. It does bring the heart joy to watch these little busy bees and all other animals and insects in natural environments. I have an abelia bush that blooms like crazy and the bumblebees love it! I could sit and watch them for hours. Thank you for sharing.

Laura this is one of my favorite projects youve done! The result is so lovely and thank you for featuring an espaliered tree! Im hoping to put two espalier Apple trees in my backyard but am having a hard time sourcing them in my area and my local garden center unfortunately was not much help. Do you know of a reputable source that I can have delivered? Im also not afraid of starting them from whips, I just need to find the correct dwarf rootstock.

Laura: this motivated me so much to do more!
Me: I need food and a nap from just watching you
Your videos are always so inspiring! I love how those beds turned out and now I want an espalier treeline for our second driveway to maximize our orchard space: ) Thank you for naming the plant the bees were on also- I was hoping you would while we watched them. I love watching all the little critters in mine, too!

I have a question about your greenhouse/cold frame. I live in Southwest Oklahoma zone 7 and Im trying to figure out the best type of greenhouse or cold frame to get. The type like you have, most of them have green colored cloth type covering. Does the sun actually filter through the green to benefit the plants or should it be clear like yours?
I enjoy watching your videos and gather valuable information from them.

Thank you for all the hard work you do on your videos! I have been watching for the last 3 months and you have inspired me to do a ton with my 1/3 of an acre. I am hoping at your next question session, you would talk about how you overwinter plants or consider making video when the season rolls around as I am wondering how to do this for different types of flowering plants as the ones you brought out looked so lovely!

We are planning hops for beermaking for the first time this year. We were originally thinking of growing them up a constructed tipi or arbor, but the height is intimidating. Your trellis makes me feel like maybe we don't have to go for that 16-20ft height. Do you know the minimum height for at home harvesting? If I give it a trellis about 8ft high, what happens when it reaches 8ft? Do I just trim it?

Loved watching the bees on the flowers. I was wondering what you did with the fruit trees you bought about 2-3 months ago? I believe you had a apple, peach and a pear tree? Id like to see an update to what you did with them my parents just bought fruit trees a few days ago and was wondering if you had any tips for them? (Galla apple, Santa rose plum, peach tree is what they bought)

We love the wildlife and pollinators that we watch from our front porch. We react the same way when bumble bees show up and argue over the flowers when theres so many for them. Glad were not the only ones who enjoy that. Its the little things Literally that stop us in our track's and take the time to enjoy, especially these days.
