With some cooler weather and a break from a long heat wave in the Ontario Ottawa valley I decided to tackle trimming up trees and hedges that have been let go for many years ( a new property to us. Lots of dead branches! Makes me so happy to see how trees and hedges can bounce back and look nice and tight with some TLC!

Did you know that you can actually cut a bigger branch if you use the loppers upside down? It seems strange but if you hold the lopper so the bottom blade is actually on top you'll be able to cut a slightly larger branch. So why aren't they built that way? I learned this on another gardening show years ago.

My day is off to a great start coffee in hand watching a few of your videos before I got outside and get after it! On t agenda for today is trimming up some Rhododendrons so they dont grow into each other. I have over an acre and its all flat and landscaped so theres always lots to do.

Please tell me why all my tree leaves yellowing with orange or brown spots and falling its only August and they have been doing this since July or june. What am I doing wrong? I did give the trees the leafgro food spikes for trees yet no improvement seen. Someone please help!

Wish I had seen this a year ago, lol. Thank you for your show. I am learning so much. Finally we in Alberta Canada are getting some PW plants, cant wait to get them planted now! Now if we can get PW fertilizer that would be cool. Love your gardens! I love trees.

I was pruning yesterday and realized I loaned my loppers to my grandson. I will probably never see them again. so I could sure use a new one. Already chased my neighbors chickens out of the garden and picked my first cucumber. and its raining. Its a great day!

Just noticed you have a band-aid on your thumb. Hope it heals nicely. Then I noticed a ring. Is there a special significance to that ring. First time I have noticed and jewelry and wanted to ask. BTW, what is your regular hand care regime?

Today's a great day! The morning was cool and the sun is shining and it won't be as hot as yesterday. My little patch of sunflowers are putting on growth and my Juliette tomatoes are turning red. #feelingblessed
