Planting Lavender! Garden Answer NWP: Hi Laura. I really hope you could help me with my query. I live on the ground floor of an apartment building. We have a small garden where I want to plant lavenders. But we have some rules regarding planting directly in the soil because of the underground garage and concrete structure.
So my question is, does lavenders have invasive root structure or is it safe to plant them anywhere? I tried to put them in planters last year and killed all.
Btw I live in south of Germany, our temperatures range from summers (40 C/104F ) and winters without too much snow (-10C/14F)
Thank you so much

I love and share your passion for gardening. On this video, you are sort of all over the place! All I wanted to know about is how to plant lavender. not all of your other beautiful plants. Lavender grows best in full sunlight (10 hours) and not shady areas like under the overhang of your house. It also likes dry conditions with well draining soil. It is native to the Mediterranean so it likes those conditions. Thanks!

I'm in my 2nd year of gardening and just lost a bunch of sunflower seedlings to beetle grubs watching your video made me feel a lot better because it made me realize that pests are an issue for gardeners of all levels and it didn't happen to me just because I wasn't knowledgeable or experienced enough to realize something was going on. Thank you for sharing your own pest issue!

So you post a video about planting lavender. then the whole video is about other topics and you don't even describe or spend any time on planting lavender. do I mess with the root bundle or keep it intact, water after or not, is soil depth important or forgiving? There's a lot of frustrated people who watched this because of the title and learned nothing about planting lavender.

I have a garden in front the house I've been deciding what to do with. I'm so nervous to plant any trees near the house, even small ornamental trees. But it looks like you've planted a spruce super close to your house. Are you not concerned about it creating issues with the foundation, or just growing too large for its spot?

I live in New Jersey. I have tried desperately to grow lavender and rosemary without success. Do you have a video for beginners on growing these two plants? I planted them and they did good at the beginning but that was it. I just love these two plants and want them all over my home.

I love all of your ideas and that Sweet Romance Lavendar! Can you give some suggestions for gardeners on a budget? By current prices in my area, the number of Lavendar plants you put in would cost over $250. Thanks for any suggestions.

I realised that lavender doesn't do well in my climate as the summer rains really soak the soil and rapidly dry out the soil that's also clay like. so I'm trying to perfect how to take care of lavender here. hoping for the best

Laura, you remind me of a young me in that you rarely wear gloves! Your poor hands. In Missoula, Mt we had a woman who wrote a column called Dirty Fingernails. She used to say, never trust a gardener with clean fingernails! I agree.
