5 Super Fast Crops to Grow for Fall Harvest! Garden Answer Demmy: Hi Laura,
Love all your gardening tips. Question: Do you make pesto from your basil?
Also, have you considered trying a Greek dish called imambaldi (if you watch Dr. Zhivago, 1965, with Omar Sharif -- there is a scene where he orders the dish? The dish is made with eggplant (any variety, but in the film, he (Omar Sharif) eats the large eggplant, lots and lots of garlic, tomatoes, and some versions, which are made in the oven include potatoes (all of which you grow in your garden. I know this is WAY before you were born. you may want to check with your folks (it may be before their time as well.
Anyway, the point is to try it, you may like it.

We share a lot of things in common. You will never find red flowers in my gardens, I leave my lights on as well because its cheery, and I like neat and tidy gardens. I also believe we make our own utopia and its starts at home! One thing we do not have in common is how well put together you are in every video. My hair is always up, in a clip or pony tail, Im in shorts or skorts, filthy and no makeup! When the camera is off do you still put your self together so well? Im a good gardener, but you have got me beat on that front! My gardens are beautiful but I look a mess by the end of the day!

Hello from Sweet Home Alabama! I love how organized yall are! Off the topic of your video content, but I see yours behind you at the beginning and I have a question about potted bloodgood Japanese maples. We have one potted in a large concrete container and it has been there for three years now. It is beautiful, healthy and loving its life but we are now ready to transplant it into our yard landscape. When is the best time to make this change? (Zone 8a) Fall, dormant stage, spring? Thank you so much for your help and wonderful videos!

I finally transplanted an apple tree that I'd planted this spring in an inconvenient spot to the 'Limelight' hydrangea which I also planted today. I thought of you guys planting all those trees earlier in the season.
Now I can sit back and enjoy my garden. Until I see something that must be tended to (weeds, add mulch, spread grass seed, transplant herbs and divide peonies.
Hard to believe it's nearly coming to an end for the season.

Hi Laura, I have a question. As a newer vegetable gardener, I'm getting ready to plant my cool season crops from seed, which I've never done before. My question is once the seeds are planted, do I need to add mulch to protect the seeds? If so, will they be strong enough to pop up through it? Sorry if it's a super beginner's question, but I'm learning so much from you and I can't quite figure this one out. Thanks!

Question on drip irrigation: You said you get better results with 1/2-inch drip when you install it in a grid that connects back on itself. We took your advice when we installed drip in some of our beds this year with excellent results. In this video you used 1/4-inch drip in the raised beds without connecting it back on itself. Can you please explain why the difference. Thanks.

I absolutely love watching your videos. You and yours family have been such a breath of fresh air during the craziness of 2020! I was wondering if you have ever tried any sort of natural slug repellent? I have heard that ground up egg shells and coffee grounds can work as well. I have two dogs and I am afraid that slug bait might be harmful for them. Thanks!

And I just got some collards today that Im gonna plant too. This is my first time ever fall planting! Im so excited

I love your garden. I see your raised beds are made of wood. Mine have more than 4 years, they were made of cedar and the wood its pretty loose and damaged now. Do you have a video where do you replace an old wood raised bed without making a mess of the soil inside and what wood type do you recommend?
reply

Nope! Not doing any more veg planting! Ive been babysitting my garden, canning jam, canning tomatoes and spaghetti sauce, freezing Pesto sauce and Swiss chard, pickling beets and cucumbers - all summer! Im done! Time to travel! But thanks!
