Planting Pollinator-Attracting Plants Around Our Chicken Coop! Garden Answer Colby: I love the way this looks. Question: have you considered planting some things the chickens can eat through the wire fencing that will be beneficial for them such as comfrey? That was the top recommended plant in a chicken raising class I took. There are other plants that keep them healthy as well as giving them ways to entertain and enrich themselves. I know how much you adore your chickens and you are creating a wonderful environment for them.

I have been growing Zephirine Drouhin roses for about 20 years. They are wonderful, beautiful and smell amazing. I have a new one I planted last summer training around my front porch railing which works well because they are thornless and because they don't require as much sun as other roses so perfect for an area that only gets full sun about 4 hours a day.

This is the cutest chicken coop I've ever seen. I also wanted to thank you for the inspiration for planting the supertunias. I have the Vista bubblegum variety and it's still going strong from March 2018! Just planted a few more colors, can't wait to see. These are the best potted flowers I have ever grown.

you're so lucky you don't have deal with Japanese beetles. They are terrible destroyers initially attacking anything in the rose family. They continue to migrate across the nation. I wish there was a way to erradicate them. So pretty! I'm shocked you didn't plant something low lying. It's beautiful!

Absolutely darling! Love the window box especially, now I'm going to have to add creeping jenny to my box balls in pots. I have that rose and love it's fragrance and that it's thornless but mine doesn't bloom all summer. One very heavy bloom but afterwards just a few sporadic blooms.

On the backside of the chicken coop you showed some beautiful tulips! They were called a pinotage blend. I looked them up but they are through a wholesaler. Can you tell me what tulips they are. I would love to plant that mix but on a smaller scale. You inspire me!

As someone that is terrified of bees, and my young son is even worse than I am, these are a no go for me but those are beautiful.
PS - I think some chicken themed whimsical statues or decor would be adorable in the area

Have you got a video on, or otherwise tried, growing wisterias before, think I heard they are good pollinator attracting plans too? Also have you any solitary bees' or other pollinator nests nearby that you're aware of?

I love watching your videos backwards. its fun seeing how far your garden have progressed. For a moment there I find myself shocked a bit that you didnt use the auger to dig. but of course, this was 3 years ago hehe
