Planting Shade-Loving Plants in My Window Boxes! Garden Answer frank: Love the Chocolate Drop/Surefire Rose combo. So much so I ordered 14 of them in total to create a small alternating hedge in the front yard. Ordered all the way back in December and was excited to finally get them a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately mine look nothing like yours. All of the begonias and most of the Coleus were cut down to2-3 inches above the can. The Begonia had very little root structure and were clearly not ready for sale. The coleus had the consistency of dead lettuce. Provenwinners has refunded three that were visibly damaged in shipping but so far have done nothing about the very poor quality of the others. I will definitely be taking your advice to buy local and go with what's available next year, but I found it really sad that Provenwinners would stand behind such an inferior product given the high prices.

I'm sooo thrilled that you've been doing lots of videos lately! I do have a question. .. it often looks as if you don't really pack soil around the things that you plant. I suspect this has to do with video editing (do you water everything with a hose to help fill in the soil around the plants) and also that you have such good and friable soil - I'd love for you to address your actual planting methods at some point. I find that if I don't pack fairly well around my plants, there are air pockets that my plants don't appreciate! Love to watch you guys. Thanks for inviting us into your gardens.

I really love your videos, they inspire me so much, to be a better gardener, to be better at planting my flower pots, sun loving and shade loving plants. You just give me so many ideas to fill my yard with beauty. My little yard would tuck into one of the corners of your beautiful landscape. But I love my little yard, and you inspire me to make it the greatest that it can be. Thank you for this video, now I know what I can plant in the one shady area in my yard. See you in your next video, bye for now.

I love your videos but I always feel a bit weird about taking your advice because its sponsored content. Its nothing against you, but when youre new to gardening and still learning, seeing such gorgeous lush plants and then the brands associated just makes the whole experience seem somewhat fake/unrealistic. I dont know. I guess people like Roots and Refuge Farm are more my speed

I am so inspired to plant my own planters this year Usually buy planters already made from Costco!
Im really having a hard time finding the slow release fertilizer though. probably going to order online. also the only plants I have bought so far are from Proven Winners! They are great!

Pretty doesn't cover it. These flower boxes are gorgeouolicious! What is your process for deciding what to plant. Do you draw it out or does it just stick in your head after you create it with your mind's eye? I totally enjoyed this video. Your creative eye is off the charts, girl. Thank you for sharing it with us. Thank you!

This may be a dumb question, but if you leave them in their nursery pots, instead of potting them in soil, will they stay the same size & not take over the boxes? And then you can just pop them out & plant them in the landscape or discard the annuals if they cant be planted? Youd have to hand water, of course.

She will show us the chicken coop when its ready, Im excited to see it too but the amount of comments each video gets about the coop is crazy. The window boxes look great of course but those pansies really stole the show, they look so soft and sweet they kept drawing my eye towards them.

Beautiful as always. You truly inspire me. Tried some combo pots based on some of your suggestion. Hope they do well. Thanks for all you do and provide to us. Love this time of the year in New York. My Boyfriend say's I turn into a flower/garden maniac and I need more land. LOL!

Gorgeous once again! Beautiful combo and looks so great with white house! I, too, love using combos like this, as some of my areas are getting more shade as the years go by. I need to get the old growth firs on my property cleared off, so I get more sun again.
