Hi Laura. I watched your video several days ago and have just been thinking about it. I work in a garden Center here in Denver and we always tell our clients that they should mix their compost amendment in with the native soil and add it to the back fill. Could you please tell me the benefit of just dumping the bag of compost at the bottom of the hole rather than mixing it in with the native soil and the back fill? I'm just curious to know your theory. Thank you so much for all your videos. I thoroughly enjoy them and done so much for the gardening world with your information and enthusiasm!

Question about watering your trees/shrubs. One of the most important questions is about watering. I know you have a clay type soil, so when it comes to planting a new tree, like the maples, how often do you water the first week, weeks after, and years after. So how long do you run the drip irrigation for your new trees. Also, how much did you water the Arborvitaes during their first weeks, months, and presently. How long during the day did you water the Arborvitae, and how do you know the water is deep enough? Thank you! Totally enjoy all your helpful tips.

What a great video! I love seeing trees being planted and, Aaron, you did a fantastic filming the project. Laura, seeing your face light up with excitement as you tell us how youre picturing the landscape will change is the best! You tree choice is going to give you so much joy in every season. And the addition of green grass will be amazing! Im so glad that you have good neighbors! I do too and its a huge blessing to live next to people who are nice, kind, helpful and take great care of their property too!

Loving your tree-lined lane! Congrats on bringing this all to fruition, you guys continue to beautify the outdoors and inspire us all along the way - thank you! A TREE QUESTION: I purchased two small trees last month, but not ready to plant them in their permanent spot til spring. Being in Michigan. should I just dig two big holes and put them in the ground in their containers for the winter? Will that protect them from the frost/freeze conditions, allowing them to still get light and moisture? Thanks!

Hi Laura and Aaron! I really appreciate you showing the planting of the trees. I know you said you weren't going to, but it was fun to watch. It was nice seeing the one leaf at the end already with fall color. It looks so nice now, but I'm excited to see the leaves in full fall color. I'm so happy for you guys! It's always fun watching you do a project, especially on the new property, watching it all evolve. Thank you so much for deciding to share this process with us!

Nice job love the trees. The sides of the planting hole looked 'compacted' from the auger. Might have been an illusion. But if not, just curious why you didn't score the sides of the planting hole? As for the root-ball sitting above grade, that's a good thing. Hopefully your viewers know NOT to 'volcano' mulch trees. Trees should have the 'root flare' visible.

Laura, I think you may have mentioned this in a previous video (cant remember which one, but has Espoma said anything to you about when theyll increase land & sea compost distribution? I live outside Salt Lake City and deal with the exact same chlorosis issues. So I use the soil acidifier on everything, but cant seem to find land and sea ANYWHERE! :(

I love these trees and would like to add them to our property. I am getting mixed information on the zone hardiness though. Some sites say zone 3 which is my zone, but others say zone 4. The garden center I visited also said zone 4. What do I trust considering this is a patented tree, so all autumn blaze maples should be the same, right?

How exciting is this! Laura I was wondering if you ever do a soil test of your property. I'm currently taking a Master Garden's class and a soil test has been highly encouraged when beginning a new project (new flower beds, new vegetable gardens, lawn fertilization program. Whatever you do seems to work. I LOVE it all!
