Fiddle Leaf Fig Care Guide! Garden Answer Diane: Weve had the same fiddle leaf fig since the late 1960s that has moved with us from TX>WI>VA>VT>NY>NC. I hope it remains a North Carolinian for the rest of my life! Throughout its +50-year life, its done very well through being cut back almost to soil level (for rides in moving vans or in times of stress - as when boy across the street ca. 1970 attacked the leaves with his new pocket knife) and seems to thrive being pot-bound. Weve taken numerous cuttings for family members over the years who have wanted their own to nurture. Its certainly tolerant of the range of conditions and treatment weve thrown at it and is very much a member of our family!

A few years ago, my roommate dragged a 4 to 5 foot dying Fiddle Leaf Fig tree back to our home. It clearly was not happy and most of its' leaves had fallen off. I've got it in pretty healthy shape now. Unfortuanatey, these is zero leaf activity or growth on the entirety of the stalks. Please explain how I can begin to stimulate leaf growth on them. It sort of resembles Charlie Browns christmas tree presently! Thank you in advance for dedicating part pf one of your helpful videos to this issue. I want her to be full and beautiful as she once was. before she was cruelly put out on the street.

PLEASE HELP I purchased my fiddle leaf last year around this time and started loosing leafs from the bottom of the tree. Two days ago I repotted my tree into a larger planter and didnt have enough soil so I used garden soil. I mixed miracle gro Cactus palm and citrus potting Along with garden soil. I am afraid that my fiddle will not survive. Should I go out and purchased potting soil and remove the garden soil. Please respond

Her hair looks like a beautiful ornament. LOL!
1: 43 - An air register?
I can't believe she has black walls. lol
12: 21 - I use water in a 32 OZ. Spray Bottle mixed with two tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I shake the bottle for about a minute, spray the leaves then wipe each leaf with 2 sheets of Brawny paper towels. When I do this, the leaves get cleaner and stay shiny for a longer period of time.

Hi, I brought a cutting home from another city on a 24 hour train journey and immediately put them in water after reaching home. Then I noticed that the leaves starting drying up. Do you think the cutting will still propogate. I won't give up on the cutting till I'm sure its useless. Also, the weather is changing and is becoming cooler so I'm not sure if it'll root in winters.

Please, don't place your Ficus Lyrata outside! I live in Berlin and I did that to my gorgeous, tall Ficus Lyrata and the leaves on one side burned within 24h and look very dry now: ( It was a very sunny day, so I thought the plant would be happy and maybe grow more. big, huuuuuuge mistake. I am still recovering emotionally from that. :( It was my favorite plant.

Hello Laura,
I noticed you put the pruned stem in water, but when is the stem ready for soil opposed to just water?
I would also like to thank you for your insight and in depth information, All about planting. Very useful information.
I adore my fig tree and I would like to do all I can to continue great results from it and keep it happy.

I am a new plant mom to a fiddle leaf tree I received as a Christmas gift. it's about three feet tall but growing new leaves, I've noticed little white residue especially on the new growth coming in. can someone tell me if this is normal or harmful to my plant? Looking forward to your advice. I'm so excited about my plant I don't want it to be sick.

Live in an Apt. I rescued a sad Fiddle Tree from Dumpster with 2 leaves. Beautiful & 29 + leaves now. Glad I never got on internet for care guide. I've done everything wrong: when/how to replant, fertilize ect. My Fiddle Tree is thriving on porch outside facing north in a shady courtyard.
