SONE 5! So few people state the zone. It's gotta be the single most important data point there is.
Oh yes you can eat 92 artichokes. Baked Baby artichokes, Lidya has a heavenly Chicken and Artichokes with polenta that uses 1, 1/2 pounds of baby artichokes. Baby artichokes in risoto, IT just goes on and on. Artichoke as babies may be my favorite way of consuming them.

Benjamin is so sweet. I love that he enjoys helping you with planting and helping his daddy with tractors and equipment. Hes interested in everything you guys do which sure makes it easier! I saw artichoke plants the other day but didnt get one. If theyre still there the next time I shop, I will check them out.

Could you use artichokes as host plants in the garden? Use them to attract the aphids and keep them off other vegetables? I just finished setting up my garden, havent planted yet cause its a little cold here in Minnesota. And was wondering if theres any plants you could use to host or attract bugs?

Im pulling for you and your artichokes, but being that I grew up not far from the Artichoke Capital of the US, Castroville California, and knowing they like cool, foggy mornings from May through June, and then coastal mid-summer temps, I have to wonder how they will do in your area.

How I love watching you with little Angel Boy Benjamin! Can't wait to see little Angel Girl Samantha Grace out there with you too! Benjamin will be a great teacher for her! I'm going to try a couple artichokes for the beauty. Have you tried them in flower arranging?

I would like to know if putting plants in your so called cold frame is considered hardening off your plants? I live out in the country 1st year and it is so WINDY here. I am thinking about building or purchasing a cold frame for this reason. Am I correct in my thinking?

We planted ours last year and had to use mesh vole baskets. They arent taking off as they should. Do you think we could dig them up and check? Not sure what to do. This is our second season.
Also what do you fertilize your seedlings (any type) with? Thanks!

Hi Laura! Those will be so pretty out there. I wish the artichokes put out more than 3-4. I can only plant one, but love eating them. It was fun seeing Benjamin helping you, and of course Russell! Thank you so much for sharing!
