Planting RED Flowers + Mulching the Cut Flower Garden! Garden Answer Nicolas: lol so you mulch the OUTSIDE of the orchard, and put an irrigated lawn IN the orchard? Irrigated just so it doesn't brown out? That sounds crazy to me. Irrigating something just so it looks nice, in this climate, ew. Why not just actually mulch the orchard, so that you don't have to irrigate anything? Why not mulch the flower garden itself instead of just the alleys? It's so weird the way you're doing it. You consume so much more water because you don't mulch your plants.

This is probably way too late to be commenting on this video but I have to mention the shutters on the barn- if you would have the guy that works for you that is sooo talented make you plain shutters that are functioning and wide enough to actually close and held back with shutter dogs I think you would be amazed at what a difference it would make. I study you videos every day and they inspire me to get out in the humidity that is the south!

. I love your, fussy. you're a great mama to a lil' boy. I miss those days. I'm w/ you, I'm not a red person but my husband is. I always plant some corners of red annuals. I'm a pink, blue, white a bit of yellow, not orange as in marigolds. but, orange is good with red. I'd paint over the water deposit too. yes! Simple, but beautiful. I love your structured boxwood, with the easy flow of the flowers and greenery.

Uh-oh Laura you may regret putting that mulch down with the winds you get in your area. I did the same in my area of New Mexico, to keeps the weeds out, (btw. we are also high desert down here and get the same weather you do with the strong winds. and the dang winds blew my mulch all over the place. Best wishes. I hope you don't have the same problem. Oh and I just LOVE the containers with the red flowers!

PLEASE HELP, I am planning a baby shower for my daughter inlaw. The theme is woodland creatures and I am wanting to give Hyacinth, Tulips, and Daffodils as gifts for the guests. Walmart has then in their individual containers from the greenhouse. How do I care for them so that they are blooming for the shower? I live in Indiana and the shower is April 24th. Thank you for any advise you may have.

Hi Laura! Sending love all the way from Australia. a quick question about topping up soil in pots. Is it as simple as just refilling and adding a bit of fertiliser if needed? For example, if I had veggies in pots, is it always ok to use pre exisiting soil? What do you do with leftover soil if it's no good (if that's a thing. Thanks for being an inspiration so many of us! Blessings, Chloe: )

You're so good at gardening. I wish I could just send you a drawn map of my garden area and you could draw on it what would go good where. I am completely new to this and struggling to understand everything. Some of the plants I have planted have dried out thanks to the freeze. Ive put some rose bushes, but my 12 foot garden in the front looks so bare. Sigh.

First I want to say how much I am loving the transformation of the new property. It is going to be gorgeous. This video sparked a question. I am planning a cut flower garden this year but it is going to be part of my actual landscape. With that being said, would you mulch before or after you transplant your seedlings? I am unsure which would be easiest.

gosh Laura works herself like a slave. It is making me so uncomfortable. Get Aaron to do some of the more strenuous stuff. Most husbands perform in that role. And take care of your hands and skin. Wear gloves. Stop using your bare hands to do all that stuff. This self-neglect may return to hunt you later.

Those ranunculus are beautiful! The ones I started from corms this year are already starting to bloom in their trays! I started them about 2 weeks too early. I have to get them in the ground! Its just now starting to get warm enough at night for it though!
