Feeling a Little Behind Planting My Home Containers! Garden Answer handmade: Sorry, Laura, I'm late to commenting on this and may have missed your Highlight Review.
So, had a quick question about the Eskimo Sunset Sycamore Maple from your awesome Boise shopping trip.
I'm in Central Iowa (5A) and have had one planted for the past 3 seasons in full sun. I was so elated to see that you found one as I think I messaged you about them a year or so along with the Tiger Eye Sumac that you recently videoed about(sp? l It's done okay (struggled during the dog days but knew the root system was healthy as lower new growth still looked okay. This past spring I think it finally threw in the flag. Upper growth never leafed out and the only thing showing livelihood are lower branches and suckers.
Long story kinda short, this happened to a Red Bud Tree of mine 5 years ago. I ended up chopping the tree down and letting the suckers do their thing. 5 years later I have a tremendous multi-stem red bud doing it's thing for the price of a tree. I'm actually thrilled the way it worked out and am thinking about doing the same thing for this Eskimo maple.
Long, long story short! I'd like to share a picture with you to show you the red bud and the about-to-be-pruned Eskimo maple and I don't have social media and would like to keep it that way. Should I just send pictures to your parents' store contact info to share with you?

I hope you can do an aerial tour soon of the new areas. I am getting confused on where you are now, since things change so fast. Did you always have those pots there, or are they newly moved? Isn't that where you normally do annuals in the ground, where you had gomphrena in the past? It looks SOOO nice. I am jealous of all your awesome pots. I have cheap ones now but I am looking to start my collection. I have my eye on those square ones you and your parents have from Home Depot. I'm keeping my eye out for some of the unique stone ones too. I love all your inspiration. I'm in Minnesota and it has been unseasonable HOT here the last two weeks, so I watch your videos when I come inside for my iced tea breaks! They keep me going.

So you were able to cut off the foliage of the daffodils already? My daffs bloomed March to mid-April and still have green foliage, albeit with brown tips and a bit floppy. I underplanted these in big vases and I am so sick of seeing this mess, it also blocks the sunlight for the summer flower seedlings. The pots are placed in a spot with full sunlight (Sanremo, Italy. Please tell me I can cut them down without risking less flowers next year! Ciaoo!
edit: I meant pots, vaso is Italian for pot

Cant wait to see how these fill in this summer! Im moving to a whole new area where Ive never lived with a great big empty yard. Im rewatching your videos about the empty lot but any recommendations on getting started? Im fairly new to flower gardening and am just not sure where to start! Do you have any recommendations for not super expensive pots? I love the look of your cement pots but wont be ready to spend that much for quite some time. Thank you so much!

On the drip tubing: I have been really frustrated that wherever I punch in to link emitters or tubing that links to point emitters from my main Netafim grid system, those connections LEAK super bad. I've tried two different punch tools'--one is the Dig brand from Home Depot the other which I thought a bit better was the Orbit from Lowes--but both tend to leak at the 'punch point. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Laura! I've been watching you daily for the past couple months. As a new gardener I feel like I have learned so much from you, and you've given me a ton of confidence. Now for my question: How are you able to fit so many things into one container? I have the taller urn, and was barely able to fit one veronica and 3 supertunias. How crammed/tight can these plants be?

Need some help finding which ANNUALS to plant in a container in a PART SUN location that receives about 4 hours of afternoon sun. Can't plant shade plants but also full sun plants just don't perform as well without 6 hours of sun. I can never seem to find many flowering annuals that like part sun. Please help, would love your recommendations!

It looks perfect for what we will need on our new place. Thank you so much for all of the plantery wisdom you share with us.

Hi Laura and Aaron! All of the containers turned out really pretty! I thought the pansies still looked good in the containers by the vegetable garden. Did you plant them somewhere else? Just curious. I love the grouping of three planters together and the plants you chose are beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing!

the plant that was engulfed by the spider mites: specifically what was it? --a juniper? I'm living in terror of spider mites because they were so bad last year and we are heading into a severe drought season here in Salt Lake City. How did your tri-part pesticide plan work out last season for spider mites?
