Setting Up 18 Pots On Drip Irrigation! Garden Answer Lisa: Absolutely love you guys and your videos! Something that maybe could be verified though. I just recently had to replace the same type of filter/fittings because I had done some work on a bed and when I replaced the tube I used the plumbers tape on the fittings like you are showing. Within 2 days, the filter threads cracked and had to be replaced again. The cause - tightening the fittings too tight on the filter and when the sun hits the filter/tube the plastic will expand. By using plumbers tape you create even less space for the expansion. Per my irrigation supplier - it is not recommended to use plumbers tape on plastic to plastic. Only use on metal to metal. Really not sure if that is a true thing or just what one guy told me. Thought I would share.

I installed lawn sprinklers in Jax, FLif concrete guys came on site and poured sidewalks and garage/driveways before we could run our zoneswe did this:
1) you dig out about a foot down on each side of the cement slab
2) grab a hose fitting and length of PVC to make the distance you have to run the line under slabglue fitting on one end and attach to hose
3) turn on the water and use the cut piece with fitting and gently blast under the slab, trying not to wash out the fill under the slab and remove after through other side
4) run a size larger or two sizes (if you need to run wires or other pipes) piece of PVC through the hole you just cut with the pressurized pipe
5) voila, you have water where you had none earlier

After watching some of your videos in the past about setting up drip, I successfully set it up for my containers in the front of my house! I felt so proud of myself and it was all thanks to you showing me how and giving me the confidence to tackle something new! THANK YOU! Now, this video helped me understand the drip tubing (and where to get it - thank you for the links) so that I can be as successful in setting it up for my hanging baskets on my back deck. I've got a new project and just in time for our July vacation! Thank you, Laura, Aaron, (and et al) for being so incredibly helpful!

Thanks for this video. Thanks to this video I have now hooked up all of my containers and I can go out of town in the future and not have to ask anyone to water for me. You also helped me to set up drip in my home garden (island, beds ect. My only issue I found confusing was which way to put the barb fittings (the tee in particular) in a circle inside-the container to allow it to drip. The video didnt show this up close 20: 35 so I had to do some trial and error. I finally figured it out. Thanks again.

This is VERY helpful! I had watched all videos with your irrigation system, and boy, I watched them many times. I thought I was ready! LOL. I visited the hardware store multiple times and stood in front of the same isle for hours. At home, once I had finished connecting all pieces for my small irrigation system, I turned the faucet on and wow it was leaking at every single connection. It took a couple of days to realize that I needed to use the thread seal tape. Lots of but so worth it.

My husband and I will be putting our gardens on drip this year, and your irrigation videos are our guide! So informative.
I was hoping for some clarification about the position of the different pieces - does the order they get attached have to be as youve shown in the video?
I have a timer with 4 programmable outputs. Can I attach the back flow preventer and pressure regulator to the spigot before the timer? Or do I need 4 sets of those, 1 for each output? Thank you!

Perfect timing. I have watched every one of your irrigation videos and ordered everything I needed (I hope) in order to get my enclosed garden I just finished building all set up, along with my flower bed out front. My drip just came today and I can't wait to get it all set up and efficient! Thanks for all the inspiration and tips I never would have even thought to use drip before watching your videos and realizing it's not as complicated as it may have seemed before.

Woohhhh. ooohhhh. ooohhhh. the camera angles are crazy up in here today! (I'm guessing it was really bright out and Aaron couldn't see Laura's face in the viewfinder. he kept cutting off her head) And now to the content: I always watch every video you make, even when I think I'm not going to ever use it, like drip tubing, etc, because you never know! Maybe seeing you guys do it will make me say, of course, I can do that!

I just put the garden in my backyard on a soaker hose and MAAAAN Im gonna love this. Its not nearly as fancy as Lauras because its just a 10ft hose that i can take off when not in use since it crosses our outdoor sitting area from the faucet to the soaker hose, but Id rather have to connect a hose then have to water 35ft of garden every morning now I just gotta start doing it in my front yard

Throughout your gardens near your house, is the black 1/2 drip line buried in a trench, if so how deep? Or is it just under the mulch as is the drip line? We are having a ton of splits in our main line which previous owners did not bury so it's been sitting just under landscape rock for years. Just getting dry and brittle I guess. When we replace it, we want to make sure it's correct.
