Saving Seeds From the Garden to Plant Next Year! Garden Answer Shelly: Finally getting to watch this video. a few days later. but I was just wondering if you leave the plants out in the garden and they drop their seeds in the ground, will they come back next year by themselves? I am a florist in Minnesota and we buy from 2 local flower farmers. One of them grows the White Finch Orlaya and I love using that flower! I especially love the green pods they create after the petals fall off.

THANK YOU. Thank you so much for showing me seeds and how to collect them from my flowers. I been always searching different kinds and how to get seeds from them. I always end up killing mine after a year or two, so having seeds will cut down my spending bill. Now to grow them and have them come up will be another story, because I cant afford grow lights, and my house is to dark to put on windowsills.

I usually dry my spent blossoms on a screen and then keep them in brown paper bags until ready to harvest the seeds. When I separate them, I use waxed paper baggies to store them in a basket. Unfortunately, every zinnia and marigold that I harvested last year and direct seeded this year were eaten. One day, the seedlings had their leaves, the next, all that was left was stems. So disappointing.

I think it would be fun to do seed giveaway for your viewers since you have so many extra. I love having a story garden where this plant came from my grandma, this one from a nice lady whose door I knocked on to find out what flower she had growing, etc. Would love to have a this plant came from a seed from Laura's garden who taught me most of what I know about gardening.

There's something just very satisfying about saving seed and then growing from that seed the next year! Fun! How did your large tomato patch do with the Florida weave? I don't recall seeing that update. I used that method with my pepper plants, I think it works well for lots of plants that get heavy with fruit and have to withstand the wind. Thank you

That was so satisfying to watch! We had some balsam impatiens that have an exploding seed pod. We had to pick them green so they wouldn't pop and broadcast seed all over the place. How long do seeds last in storage? I would never be able to plant that many seeds due to space issues. But I would love to collect seeds for the following year. Thanks!

I was going to say when I was watching the carrot carrot seeds that you could take a gift in like gift baskets seeds put a picture on the front of the packet of what it is in instructions. For someone who does gardening and just may not have some of the seeds you have or they can share them pass them on.

Tell Aaron that its always best to save many seeds from multiple plants to ensure a healthy gene pool. That way, the next generation of plants will collectively have a better chance of resisting diseases, pests, weather, etc. And you will have a better chance of getting the flower color that you want.

Hi, Laura. I want to ask you about the Camelot foxglove series. After seeing yours last year, I grew a bunch from seed this years (started indoors. I'm wondering if you know if the seeds from those blooms will flower next year, or do they revert back to biennials? Thanks! And really helpful video.
