I'm. in the UK and have used vermiculite on top for a while and fine vermiculite added to the potting mix for aeration and moisture retention.
I've just started wetting my compost before putting it in the potting trays as you've shown, which normally here, we only water after seed sowing or sprinkle water on top just before. Absolutely brilliant, what a game changer. thank you, I will be wetting my compost first in future. Thank you

Laura, your seed starting videos have been useful in teaching my sweet students in my science lab the last couple weeks. I have talked about how I love Ms. Lauras videos and have learned so much! We just planted our seeds this week of basil, coleus, and green beans in zone 10b. I am far from an expert gardener and new to seed starting. THANK YOU for inspiring me and teaching me tips that I can pass along to my little gardeners!

I have snapdragons on my driveway in raised brick planters against the walls of the house. I never water them and they look beautiful even in the heat of our summer in Ontario Canada mid way down lake Huron. I brought some in the house. tried 2 times but aphids appeared on them really thick. they face west outside and the ones I have facing north don't do as well but they are in boxes on my front porch and I water them. go figure eh.

Thanks, Laura, for all your informative vlogs! I have learned so much through you over the past 4 years. I planted snapdragons from seed for the first time and definitely planted more than a couple per cell. I wanna say maybe 10 - 15 per cell? They already have their true leaves now. Should I thin them? If so, how much do I thin? Also, do you use liquid fertilizer on them after they grow true leaves?

I decided to expand the cut flower garden this year, and while searching for bulk seeds found a company in Oregon, local to us. Maybe you've heard of them? Outsidepride is the name, and let me tell you, bang for the buck! You should check them out. I haven't started any of the seeds yet, so germination is TBD, but for the price I'm willing the risk a few. Snapdragons are going in the greenhouse soon.

This is my first year growing snapdragon seeds. Since I waited so late was not able to order the varieties you mentioned. So I picked up some from my local garden center. Do you know anything about Tall Rust Resistant Mixed colors. The seed company is American Seed. How can I tell what group they are in? This video was very informative, thank you for helping me love gardening even more.

Having an issue, maybe someone could help me out! Started snapdragon seeds 8-10 weeks out, now it's already only 2 weeks away from frost date and they haven't gotten any bigger than when they first germinated! I've been watering regularly, had a head mat, have lights strung. Maybe I need fertilizer? I used espoma seed starting mix though, and the true leaves ahavent emerged yet. Help!

I find having heat mats on grates/wire shelves wastes their heat. I always put 'something' solid under them - shoe/boot tray, etc.
And I'm a tad puzzled by the vermiculite. Seen you do it before where you stated 'why' but I forget. I've never really seen anyone do that. Is there worry about the tiny dust type seed (i. e.; Foxglove) getting messed up?

So not really related to the video but you should get a few ducks to let roam around in the south garden! They dont destroy stuff like chickens and they eat bugs! Benjamin and Samantha Grace would love them! I know Erin from floret has them! Im going to get maybe 2 this year to let walk around my garden!
