So cool I love that Aaron is all excited that would be me two trees are my thing! We have a new build and we live in Colorado Springs we built this about three years ago, we built this city lmao!
But we have two of those blue spruces in the backyard they were very icy blue when we planted them but they have faded to a green within three years. Weird. I need to feed them. I think I have some evergreen tone in my garage I need to get with the damn program! We also have a snow tree in the front yard. I think this is the first year it has bloomed its gorgeous. Small yet. All of these trees are pretty small. Funny we see all of these trees everywhere pine spruce theyre just all over! Enjoy

Hei
I like idea of growing hazelnut or holme oak. or variety that can grow truffles in relationship to roots. People in Europe used to have them more commonly until WWI made the farms scarce. Truffle slice in half pint jar of honey is really good umami flavor. for sauces or salads. Increases appetite in healthy way. You can also buy sapling trees that can produce truffles. So many ways to reforest areas that need diversity. and use as firewood heating.

I'M amazed they didn't have any Copper Beech. we have one and it's the most beautiful tree ever with low lower limbs and a purplish colour leaf. It grows very high and when we put it in, we didn't know how big it actually gets. our town has one down the street a bit and it's been named a Historical tree because it's well over a hundred years old. mine is around 47 years old. it has nuts but I just rake them under for mulch. they are quite woody.

Pull the formal hedge out, orient the gazebo more midway between the weeping willow and the Hartley, use some trout man junipers as a small screen to make semi maze with roses, hydrangeas and small boxwoods to create a more relaxed English inspired formal garden. With your Oklahoma stone for a pave walkway.
Ah soo pretty

Yes! As beautiful as your garden already is, new subdivisions (and I know the house itself is old and there are older trees, but most of them have gone due to disease) just really look bland and bare because there are no mature, big trees. It would be amazing to be able to get one of those, but they're so so expensive!

Such a nice outing. Thank you for taking us along. Please dont get the Lelands Cypresses without looking them up. A lot of the nurseries in our area wont even sell them anymore due to disease. Weve had to have four removed and 7 more to be removed. They were so beautiful when it snowed here.

Leland Cypress may be a very bad idea in your area with all your wind. We had one neighbor lose more than 15 one day in a bad storm. And two more neighbors lose even more in another wind storm. Trees were probably 15 years old. They have a very shallow root system that is weak in wind storms.

Love looking at all the beautiful trees and Aarons excitement is infectious! Cant wait to see what you guys got for your garden! I have crab apples with fireblight, could I plant a spring snow nearby without it being affected? or do you have other spring blooming suggestions?
