Planting Fall Crops (+ A Few More Warm Season Crops! Garden Answer robin: your videos are so in sync with where i am; maybe i've finally figured it out, hahaha. looking for some fall crops i can plant here altho i don't have to worry about frost (well, hardly ever. zone 10b. by the way, you inspired me to grow CORN so i have 6 stalks in a raised bed: not a big crop but hey! i have TWELVE EARS, i'm so excited! it's just for the 2 of us and maybe the grands if they're interested, so that should be just enough for some summer fun off the grill! i can feel the ears inside, and i'm just hoping i get good fertilization on them (been shaking them like you did plus our own wind. fingers crossed! i have a plan to go to my nursery tomorrow to see what i can spot to put in an empty raised bed i have. i hope you realize how much you've inspired me over the years i've been watching you. i get so many compliments on my little garden, and it's because of what i've learned from you! so thank you! thanks for the video!

Always a good morning when the sun is shining on a cold winter morning watching Garden Answer with a hot coffee. I'm in New Zealand and always find it fascinating what crops you are planting in your seasons, we currently have our vegie gardens full of winter crops doing very well. What we plant is wildly different timing wise as we are a zone 10b and don't get the extreme temps in either direction and a lot more moisture year round than you, we even had flooding last summer in the height of our tomato production which ended up splitting most of the tomatoes that were on the vine. Love watching your videos and getting ideas.

Garden Answer showed up on my FB when Laura was pregnant with Benjamin. Of course I have been hooked ever since. I havent missed a day in the last 5 years of your wonderfully informative videos. Aaron and Laura I so appreciate your garden information and have learned about so many things that has helped in my garden. I love your family values and your down to earth attitude about gardening. You guys rock! I have been going back (2017 and each year) againand watching where you first started in this house and property and love seeing the progression! Thanks so much for sharing.

I love these videos reminding me of my next move in the garden. I started planting fall crops 2 years ago following Lauras advice, but I noticed that despite my last frost date is later than Lauras, I couldnt get to harvest the same way. It seems to me that sunny days/hours would also need to be considered. Here in the pacific north-west, we start the cloudy-rainy weather in September, which brings almost everything to still and although I dont have freezing temps until late Nov, I dont seem to have enough time to fully grow fall cabbages for example.

Great timing for this video as I was actually wondering what I could plant for a 2nd crop in my zone 9B produce garden at this time of year with the same dry heat as you have. Also, quick question - are your raised beds open on the bottom or are they on top of any weed barrier? Mine are about the same depth as yours but on top of gravel so I'm just curious if they are deep enough for the roots of some crops. I also have oak barrels for other crops that might need it a bit deeper. Thanks again for another inspiring video!

I have tried growing tomatoes and strawberries this year for the first time, babied them every day and the deer got to them. So I ended up with four strawberries and even those didnt look palatable. The amount of time I spent makes me think its just easier to get a container of berries on sale, but I dont want to give up. Will see what the tomato plant will do, the deer ate the leader. Please send people like us your magical encouragement. Love, Katerina

Ive always grown flowers, but not very knowledgeable on vegetable crops. This year Ive been trying out some easy veggies in my raised bed (because of you. Ive had a lot of fun and enjoying my bounty. Now with this video I know how to plant for fall. I would have started too late without your advice. I love how you have a soft spot for any volunteer sunflowers. You even staked this one! Made me smile this morning.

Hi! Thanks for the video: ) Question: can I reuse the soil after my zucchini suffered from powdery mildew in a raised bed?
Also: I have a hard time finding maturity days on seed packages. It's either not a thing in my country (Luxemburg) or I buy the wrong seed packages. They just say something like harvest around july/august with isn't helpful when I go in for a second harvest.

Thanks for the information regarding carrots. I am so anxious to grow my own and I know I could very be pushing my luck here in zone 10-11 by trying to sow them in mid-July, but hey, this is south Florida and I do have many options on when to sow. I will heed your advise and start sowing when the weather is cooler here. whenever that'll be. Happy growing.

Man L just looking at your property and all the stuff you have to do i dont have 3/4 of what you have and find it hard to keep up with the weeds. I swear i wish my grass and flower would grow fast like those damn weeds. I dont understand why my house weeds grow so fast but my neighbors who never does anything never have weeds it makes me so mad t times
