Dead Boxwoods & Beautiful New Daisies! Garden Answer Charlotte: The gras looks beautiful in the containers. In Central Europe, we are dealing with a lot of problems with our boxwoods in the last 10-15 years. We have severe problems with the box tree moth, an invasive butterfly that probably came to Central Europe around 2007 with plant imports from Asia. The moth lays its eggs on the leaves of the boxwood, where the caterpillars that finally hatch cause serious damage - almost every time to the point of dying the affected plants. There is still no cure to this massive problem, so we are forced to replace the boxwoods with other plants and burn the old plant in order not to spread more of these nasty little creatures. It always makes me cry every time I discover an affected boxwood.

Listening to Benjamin saying that he wants to 'make a space for the flowers to grow' reminds of last year. He picked out several plants from the nursery and planted them anywhere in the kids' garden. Maybe there's still room in or around the new 'kids garden' he could select and plant something different than last year, but do more of the ground work (hardy har har: ) Maybe something to be seen mid-winter? Not sure but I'll think of some ideas. (And somethings up with my cpu, don't know where parts of this same comment might show up - YT changed their format so it's harder to find to even leave a comment and harder to build on one of the others)

Yesterday I found out that Monarch butterflies are now on the endangered list. There is a plea to plant milkweed: the main reason for their demise is the loss of habitat. I would never have thought I could start milkweed seeds with confidence; however, Laura, you have given me Garden Confidence and I am starting seeds and know I can do this! Thank you so much for your videos and kind instructions on so many garden projects! I enjoyed this one, as always!

Anxiously watching this before surgery today (so I can breathe better) So much prep for it though Got all the flowerbeds set up on drip and got most everything planted. Few things left but it should be fine while I m out. Can t wait to see my garden in two weeks! Hoping for a faster recovery! Also, the Daisy May look gorgeous in that shot Mine are four dinky little quart sized ones I have faith in them though, lol.

I love the troubleshooting you do! I am a new gardener (thanks to you) and I am about 60/40 on my success to failures, but hate to pull things that are not thriving. Seeing that you have issues, and how you take care of them reminds me that I can always pop something else in. I also love that you are still planting in July! PS I am sidelined with a broken leg, so tell Momma I feel her pain and she is in my prayers!

I can tell I'm improving in my learning journey watching your videos. I started out saying thats more than plenty and now watching the placement recap I look around and say oh look could pop in a few more or maybe something else right in that little spot and that is exactly what you say next. I feel like I aced a test.

Good morning! Yes, those boxwoods were a little crispy. Looking forward to seeing that stone pathway completed. I love the way it looks even incomplete.

Do Chasta Daisy's not bloom the first year? We planted some in containers from seed last year in spring and they did not bloom flowers all year.
