Plant Present for Aaron s Mom & Baking Pumpkin Bread Using the Wheat We Grew! CrossStx4: The pumpkin bread looks so good, you need to make your own pumpkin puree. That was a game changer for my me and my daughter. We always used the can then she said why don't we try to make our own puree, well we did and now there is no going back to the can pumpkin. I also make honey butter to serve with it. It makes a nice gift for neighbors too. I press my butter into pineapple mold (it's what I have) looks nice together.

Happy birthday to Aaron's mom and many blessings! What a beautiful peaceful day, thanks Laura! The pumpkin bread is Yummy! I never sift my flour but since I buy whole wheat flour, instinctively I decided to sift and it's so much better! Now, I don't mind super dens bread because in my childhood in Romania we did not have this fluf of a bread that it amounts to nothing. I love the crust from the bread, the crustier the better. If I have my choice would only eat the crust, it drove my dad crazy because I would come home with half crusted bread and half with out every time and I would do the same now! Especially when the bread is hot from the oven! I'll yummy! Blessings

Oooh, I wanted to see more of your cozy seating area at 7: 17! Looked so fresh and pretty with those bright blue cushions, potted flowers, and succulents. I also loved being with you at the end of the vid and viewing the lush, gorgeous garden in the background above the stacked wall! I love the stacked wall and the plant/flower combinations. I learn from you every day. I have a Laura List of plants I m taking to the nurseries this week as I plan out a new area of garden. So so fun! Thanks for the inspiration and knowledge you impart in every video!

The arrangement you made is simply beautiful! Happy birthday to your Mom in law! Pumpkin anything is my favourite, fall is my favourite, and so beautiful in Canada! I m going try your recipe exactly and then try my usual for pumpkin baking, which is to add at least 1 Tbsp of fancy molasses, not blackstrap, as it s bitter. How on earth is there not a pumpkin emoji? I just noticed that.
Thank you for sharing this with us Laura!

When I saw the this video, I was hoping you'd be using a pumpkin from your garden along with your homegrown wheat. Have you thought about growing your own spices also, like nutmeg and cloves? And if you don't have a book on arranging containers and flower, YOU SHOULD! Absolutely love you the arrangements you put together. And thank you for sharing you home and garden with us. I always look forward to your videos

Hats off to you Laura for being willing to try everything including growing and milling wheat to make breads. I've thought about growing a patch of wheat just to make a fall wreath but this year I've been able to glean enough from a farm after their harvest. Very excited to dip my hands in making decors with materials I could collect from nature. Being creative and resourceful is so much fun!

What a great video, your potted plants are gorgeous! Nice to know there is a fern I can grow in Northern Nevada! I adore ferns, raised in Nova Scotia where the grow wild eveywhere. So thank you for that! And thank you for your pumpkin loaf recipe! I'm so proud of you for milling your own wheat into flour! What an accomplishment! Have a lovely evening! Happy birthday Sue!

That planter is so beautiful. I took a photo of it to keep for my future planter ideas - so thank you! Pumpkin anything is always good and this recipe sounds wonderful. Buttermilk always adds a special something to any baked recipe. Can't wait to try it - but will definitely wait until weather cools off just a bit here. We're having another heat wave.

I love the beautiful weeping willow tree behind you. You can cut some of the long willow fronds and wind them around each other to form a circle, in order to make a wreath shape, Then, wire onto the wreath some dried statice flowers, juniper berries, little eucalyptus cones, acorns, etc. Add a ribbon bow and you have a nice door wreath.

I am so glad you clarified what milk you used, because my heart dropped when I saw almond milk, being that I have a fatal nut allergy. You can t tell if there are nuts in something because of things like almond milk, flavoring, etc. that you can t see. Buttermilk sounds awesome and delicious, can t wait to try it!

Your MIL is a lucky woman indeed. I'll give the bread a try. Looks delicious. Wondering, is there something you could do with the bran that was removed through sifting? Could it be added to a wheat or white bread dough for extra texture? Thanks for being a truly positive part of my day.

Quick tip for having enough Buttermilk on hand for baking (or any recipe calling for Buttermilk. I divide a quart into 1 cup containers and freeze, then thaw before adding to recipes and it works perfectly.
Wonderful video today of romancing the ordinary!
Thank you, Theresa

I had a terrible time with Japanese painted fern being very invasive in my yard (underground rhizomes. Took me a few years to get rid of it all. I m not sure you ll have that same issue (zone 8b, but please let your MIL to take care if she decides to transplant to the yard.

I d love to see you experiment with duck eggs just to see how it affects your baking! We have runner ducks and I loved how our chocolate chip cookies turned out with their eggs, but our regular white cake was a bust. I think I should have cut the eggs down in that case.

I would like the bread better with walnuts and cream cheese on top, Yum, will be baking soon. Since so many are giving tips, I make my own vanilla. Simple with vanilla beans in a 5th of Vodka, It takes about 4-6 months and it sooo much better than store bought.

Wait. Did I miss something? What is the vine crop on the floor in the greenhouse by the green stalk? Is it growing from the greenstalk? That would be awesome news, loving mine that I got earlier this year and would love to explore next year with different plants.

Laura, great video! I know your MIL loved the potted flowers and pumpkin bread!
Laura, I've looked at several videos to see who won the 250. 00 gift cards for bulbs but haven't discovered the winner. I was hoping I had won one of the 4 gift cards.

I have been milling my own wheat for several years. I mill it FRESH each batch, and never sift for breads like this. I mean the whole point for me is to get the max nutrition out of it. It makes amazing banana bread too. And pinapple upside own cake.

Can you pretty please do a house tour of the inside of your house it's such a beautiful I want to see it you literally have my dream property and I want to see it all also you haven't packable taste and I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see
reply

I am confused. You have such expensive and beautiful greenhouse but the plants you have inside are common geraniums and cheap topiaries. I thought you were going to fill it with beautiful exotic and unique plant specimens and make it really special.
