How to grow and harvest china asters with Northlawn Flower Farm Yu: Hi Daniel, I planted some China Asters from seed this year, and found that they started to bloom really early in the season in Spring and on extremely short stems. They are only about 12 inch tall, and the website says they were supposed to be around 3 feet tall. Also the blooms are much smaller than it suggested, for 2 of the king size varieties, I only got about 1 to 1. 5 inch in diameter blooms. They all look really healthy though, just short and small. I would really like to pick your brain on that issue. I don't know where did it go wrong.

I planted some Valkyrie Burnhilde Chamois China Asters. Was so looking forward to their light apricot blooms but they bloomed pink! Disappointing but the shape of the petals are cool. The pink color does not fit next with what I have planted in that bed so I-m thinking about moving them in the dead of the night, hopefully they won-t notice when they wake up in a different bed. -

I planted China Asters from seed for the first time this year and they got the yellow disease caused by the leaf hoppers. Good thing, one plant managed to survive and I was able to enjoy a few blooms. For next year, I-ll take your advice and cover them. Thanks for sharing!

How many trays and lights do you typically have going during the winter for seedlings? I really appreciate the scale of your cutting garden.

Very informative video! how close do you plant the seedlings in your -clumps- of flowers? Are these one cut wonders or cut and come again?

As usual, very informative and helpful! I am inspired by your videos so much! I plan to try much of what you recommend next year.

Another great video. So after you cut them, they won-t bloom again? Where do you like to get your Pink China Aster seeds from?
