Today I'm sowing some very early ProCut sunflowers with the intent to hoop and row cover them as needed. I'll also pot up some dahlias I've grown from seed and check on last years tubers in the basement. We'll end the day with planting a lovely flat of stock!

Spring is glorious!
I-m in 6b also. I wanted to take the plunge into dahlias this year. I chose to order some in January from Longview Gardens and cafe au late- from Wayside. I-m going to need better sources, I believe.
Two of the ones that I really wanted from LG got canceled a couple weeks ago and the other two varieties arrived today. One type does not look so good. hanging or cut tubers. Not sure when cafe will ship. Seemed like a must have to begin with.
?
Do I cut the tubers off that are cut, dangling by strings air cracked at the top?
Thanks, happy gardening to you, too!

LOVE your videos! you have such a gentle vibe about you, your videos are always so calming to watch. thank you for talking about your Dahlia tubers. I have some that I need to pot up for the first time ever but I have no idea how to do it. Please share a video, I will be watching! : )

When you said, that you have seen how your grandmother did some things and didn't directly taught you, I could relate! That's exactly how I have learned things from my grandfather in the garden (and from grandma in the kitchen! - Thank you for sharing that -

Seeing how you stored your dahlias lets us know we can try that too in the fall. As first time dahlia growers, we were thinking of just treating them as annuals because they seem like such a hassle.

So fascinated by u just bagging your dahlias. So much stress with different methods for doing so. Also I just planted ones that I could not see eyes on and so far I have about 75 +% sprouting.

Did you leave some soil on the tubers when you dug them last fall? This year I stored in peat moss but washed first and almost 100% came out ok this spring but your method seems easier!

What color are you planting of the pro cuts? I have hundreds of white lights in the greenhouse and some in the ground. I-m in Las Vegas so I-m not worried so much about frost

I have a pencil that I have marked depth on that I use for making my seed holes. I was going to start my sunflowers in 2 weeks but I think I will move that up.

Thanks for another great video! Some of my stores dahlia tubers have started growing long lanky stems. What should I do with them? Thanks! Anne

I stored my dahlias like you do and had better success than using vermiculite. I'll have to go back to making things simple with the storage!

I use a chopstick. Thank you for the sunflower sowing suggestions. I just started my first ones a couple days ago. -

I love what you said about therapy in the garden! Loved watching all the happens and everything you-re planting.

You can order the sunflower seeds directly from sunflower selections. I found that to be a great price point.

Thank you so much! I have learned so much from you. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.

The stock looks beautiful! Do you have to do anything to prevent aphids? Mine are always covered in them.

LOVE your videos! Sorry if you get asked this a lot, but where did you get your bomb diggity watering can?

I sowed some procuts today and was thinking that I was really early. Glad to know I am not the only one.

I use a pencil for planting seeds too! I've always done it so I probably learned from family as well.

Enjoyed the video! P. S. the Easter Bunny forgot a blue egg up in the evergreen tree beside your shop-
