Let's go thrifting for vessels together! I always enjoy the thrill of the hunt when it comes to purchasing a compote or urn for an arrangement, and thrift stores and antique markets are just the place to find the hidden jewel I'm after. I hope you'll enjoy doing a bit of shopping with me!

While Scrolling through your series of videos, i somehow missed this one from several months ago. Your garden is spectacular, the cut flowers saved from the storm. Just glorious. I have foxgloveas well. i do not have the greatest soil conditions and figured the second year, after reseeding themselves why they were so short, now I know learned from you Danielle. I was just am so elated they came back and wildlife didn't bother them. Any bloom to flourish without being harmed by deer, squirrels, rabbits or chipmunks running through or eaten. makes my heart happy. Great willpower yu have Danielle while thrifting. Soooo many pretty pieces and I do NOT have willpower in my DNA. haha. I learned what flower frog is today too. Basically it seems to be used in place of floral Styrofoam to keep the cutting in place. Genius! Great finds. Thank you for sharing.

I've noticed when I make an arrangement in my glass frog, if I put 2 flowers in one hole the flowers don't last long, my thinking is they aren't getting enough water having to share that space, otherwise I make out ok, I also put some flowers outside the holes, I just tuck them in between the other stems to stay in place. Love going shopping always a treat to see what other states have to offer, the china pieces were really nice.

The leaded glass pedestal container is a candy dish. I grew up with those candy dishes all around the house. My mother loved them because my Brothers would win them at the State & County Fairs on the Midway.
With the curvy bottoms they are pedestal vessels. .
Footed means they actually have feet at the bottom.
You are confusing your items, and their names.

Really enjoyed this video. Flower frogs are very, very hard to find here in the uk, and very expensive when you do find them-so we-ll done you! Please do a video on how to utilise glass frogs when you discover more about them. I, too, have one but don-t know to use it. Thank you for your wonderful videos.

Thank you Danielle! Everything was great! The garden and the shops tour: ) do you know the variety name for the blue delphinium at the beginning of the video? I love how the clusters of flowers are close together, the ones I have are distant to each other, not sure what is the difference. Thanks!

I would LOVE a propagation series! I'm coming to this video a little late, but would love to see how you take your softwood cuttings and such. I have 2 huge clumps of bergarten sage and want to learn how to propagate it. I also have some salvia I'd like to propagate. Love this!

You have so much restraint! I would at least 10 vessels of what you showed us! Love the big silverplated champagne buckets. That would be amazing filled with foxgloves and peonies and other tall flowers! Bu the way, why do you call the foxgloves foxy foxgloves?

That's a great bit of info about the Foxy foxglove. I grew some a few years ago and was really happy and amazed that they flowered their first year. I happily used the flowers in bouquets, then pulled the plants out! Never again lol!

The crystal compote could also be used for formal occasions- buffets or family style meals for cut fruit, chutneys, side dishes. I was in catering 20 years ago for upscale events and items like those were used frequently

Please do a propagation video. This is my first year getting cuttings to root. They have rooted, but algae is growing and I don-t know what to do. Also, how do I over winter them to plant next spring?
reply

Do you put a preservation in your cut flower vases? Yes, a propagation cuttings of all kinds would be nice. I haven-t been very successful in doing that process. Thank you hugs and prayers from Texas.

Thats a compote dish. They use to come with a cover. I have a green one without the cover myself. I love the style! My mother use to have the glass flower disc. Good funding on your metal pin disc tho.

I really enjoyed spending this time thinking about the great finds that are available at second hand stores and I would appreciate videos on propagation of plants - soft and hardwood.

Have you ever heard older folks call irises -flags-? That's what my grandmother called them, so didn't know if that was a common name from that era or if she just made it up.
