Hi, Danielle. I have a question for you that has nothing to do with this video. I apologize for that. I have a concern about one of my amaryllis plants. It has been doing beautifully this season and had a bloom stalk with 5 or 6 gorgeous flowers that bloomed for several weeks. In the meantime, another bloom stalk started to develop with a good-size bud. However, when it was just a couple inches tall, it started to turn yellowish with brown around the edges. It looked like it was drying up. At the same time, one of the leaves turned completely yellow. There is also some red at the bottom of a couple of the leaves, and the leaves are turning brown and rough to the touch along the edges. The soil is not wet. I put my finger down into it a couple of inches, and it is dry. Today is watering day, however, so I expect it to be dry. I-ve been watering all my amaryllis the same, and they are all doing well so far except this one. The bulb I-m referring to is in a pot with 2 other bulbs, so I-m concerned about what I should do. This doesn-t seem normal. Do you have any suggestions?

Love your videos! I just brought two of my three year old amaryllis up from the basement about a week ago and they are getting ready to bloom! I can-t believe the leaves on your Flamingo Dancer amaryllis! That one should definitely rebloom next year! I love straw flowers. I am going to have to look at my dollar store for roam seeds. Great tip! Seeds are getting so expensive. I just placed three seed orders and some of the seed packets were almost $7! Others were around $5! That-s outrageous! And some only had 15 pelleted seeds inside-

I loved the experiments going on with amaryllis! And I'm so with you with the need for floral therapy this time of year. On my birthday, my hubby always takes me to a conservatory for a garden walk. My request. This year we went to our favorite near Ann Arbor--they have 3 rooms--one is the tropical room, another is a temperate rain forest, and the third is the desert. The tropical one is my favorite--with flowers, vines, trees, a huge indoor fountain, and a waterfall. Those hellebores and panses looked so lovely in your friend's conservatory!

I have had amazing success with the inexpensive seeds from the local Dollar General, two packets for $1 and they grow like crazy. I need to relate that to my viewers too more so they know they don't have to buy expensive seeds to have a beautiful garden. I often encourage seed starting for those on a tight budget and being able to save $$$ on seeds is a winning move. I did lousy last year with Strawflower but my cousin is giving me all her seeds as she was unhappy with the ones she grew so I will give it another go.

Just bought an older home. It's littered with surprise lilies(since you're talking about amaryllis) I know the foliage very well. I spotted them and was excited. I also need to move them because they're in the wrong place in the landscape. They're right at the foundation of the house which I'm not crazy about. And we're totally redoing the fence and they're all along the fence. Anyways, have you ever seen people using the flowers for arrangements?

Hope you have fun with the amaryllis experiment. I grew Strawflowers for the first time last year and using the cool flower method was able to set them out much earlier than normal. They did great, in fact I cut them down once and got another flush of blooms before frost. I grew Swiss Giants and thought that the blooms would be large but the stems were very tall and blooms about average size. But loved all of the colors. Grace is always so cute!

We have had 2 days of temps in the mid 50-s and the squirrels are having fun and the birds are singing. Tomorrow cold weather comes back! Like you-off to the garden centers I plan to go. Danielle, I planted ammi in fall for the first time, the plants grew into big dark green clumps but then they got eaten quite a bit by rabbits or voles. It was so disappointing but there are still some small plants left and I-m hoping they-ll recover. We did have some snow, ice and temps to the high teens and they survived uncovered here in 7b. Maybe animal browse is what happened to yours?

Good news for you: I have Red Lion amaryllis, blooming for the second year, with two flowerstalks- In total 6/6 of my amaryllis bulbs are flowering for the second year, only one with just one stalk, the others all have two - I am planning to get a good picture and send it to you this week. Hello Danielle! I have to ask - are the strawflowers in the pics at the end of your video from the dollar store seed? (I know they are from another season. I love the colors! I'm going to do a lot of mixed color seed packs this year as well. Some varieties and colors are hard to find in specific colors. Might as well enjoy the surprise!

As you know I love your videos. Grace was cracking me up, but I think she just needs more exercise. You probably already know that! Do you have time to take her on some long walks? I'm all about the dollar store seeds! I cringe when so many pay all this extra money with Johnny's lol also, I feel your pain on the fall sown seedlings. Way to much rain an snow here as well. Area I have my love in a mist all rotted and went away- luckily every thing else look fine-

I saw in another video that you plant your cool flowers out around March 17, or 6 weeks before your last frost. Let-s imagine that one of the seed packets says that the seed should be started 8 weeks before last frost. Do you then sow it indoors 8 weeks before your planting date of March 17?

I'm following your instructions on starting plants from seeds, even buying heat mats. I never had such success. I had some germination in 2 days! but now things look a little leggy, or a lotta leggy. And I have 20 tiny snapdragons in each cell. What should I do? Do I need to start over?

since I started putting my Amaryllis outside in the summer and fertilizing them regularly, plus doing the -down time- - my bulbs have gotten larger, and rebloom consistently (15 bulbs of different kinds)

Strawflowers are new for me in Central Texas 8b. I think I. grew them once in New Orleans though, but then gardening there was easy. I cannot wait to have them for flower arrangements later this year.
