5 MUST-GROW LILIES!

5 must-grow lilies that every garden needs! The book mentioned in this video is Flower Confidential - Where I order my bulbs Alison: All so lovely! I would love to grow lilies but am reluctant to invest in bulbs due to the scarlet lily beetle which we have here in southern VT zone 5b. Do you have these voracious little guys, and if so, how do you control them? I've thought of trying to grow lilies in crates to see if that makes a difference; would love to have your thoughts. Thanks for inviting us into your space; I find it very inspiring.

Lilies are so beautiful and require so little. My Casablanca lilies are 6 feet tall and magnificent. I have three of the types you mentioned and have now added a couple new ones from your list. The weather here in mid mo is supposed to be in the 80s with much needed rain this week. So looking forward to fall. Enjoy your videos so much.

The Mapira you sent me were so beautiful! They bloomed this year for the 1st time. I think everything else in the garden was too overgrown when I planted them last year, so they didnt bloom. But Thats not a color I would usually choose so I'm so glad you sent it to me! Ill definitely be adding more when I'm able to!

Question Danielle. If you cut a lily, i. e Roselily Editha, is it a one and done (actually any lily, or, does it come back each year stronger? I read on a gardening blog, that if you cut them, they are finished, which I did not think they were, so I am asking the expert (YOU!

Danielle, I-m completely new to the world of lilies, other than having an old patch of run of the mill day lilies in my backyard-anyway, I didn-t realize lily bulbs are planted in the Spring-then do they typically bloom that Summer, or they wait until the next season?

Thanks for this video! I-ll admit - I keep a list by my computer of plants you have that I want! I went to Longfield-s website last week looking for Lavon lily based on your video last week - not accepting lily orders yet - but I-ll be back there in December!

So many comments are about this red Lilly beetle. So many viewers would love to grow these lilies because you have showed their beauty. Even though you don't have this issue, can you please research and let us know. Thank you.

I really love the Roselily Editha, too. I love the color, it almost looks like a waterlily, it doesn't have the sticky orange anthers, and it does last forever in the vase. One of the best cut flowers -

They are so beautiful, and the fragrant ones can fill a garden or house with amazing fragrance! Who wants scented candles if you have fragrant flowers? Thank you for sharing your favorites. ---

Wow, I didn't know there's so many varieties of lily. My favorite one is Calla Lily! So elegant. - we don't have the weather to grow lilies here so can only admire their beauty from far.
reply

I love all these varieties! I've read that lilies can grow in many lighting situations--not deep shade but partial and dappled shade as well as full sun. Have you found that in your gardens?
reply

I absolutely love lilies but this year have battled the red lily beetle. I-ve tried everything and ended up pulling many. Do you have any helpful advice?
reply

I just added a bunch of lillies to my garden (including some of these) and cannot wait to see them grow and bloom! Do you ever deal with the lily beetle?
reply

Beautiful!
Would love a video about mosquito control I can't seem to be able to be in my garden for more than 5 minutes before getting attacked.

How much do I need to worry about my cats being poisoned? Which varieties are safer for my Feline friends? I love Lillies, but I love my cats too!
reply

I think everyone who is interested in flowers should read Flower Confidential. My husband got it for me some years ago. I couldn't put it down!

Lillies are lovely but they're invasive. I planted 10 bulbs last year and this year, they took over an entire garden bed.
reply

They are all so stunning! I have about 4 different varieties and intend on getting more. Thank you for the suggestions!
