Today we're planting a Blue Cascading Hydrangea, Seeding Blue & Strawberry Corn, and Planting Tecoma Chicklet Gold. I've been impatiently waiting to get my hands on Proven Winner's new Fairytrail Fresco hydrangea. WOW! This has to be the most beautiful blue hydrangea I've ever planted in the garden! We're also seeding blue corn and strawberry corn. I plan to grind the blue corn for tortillas and use the strawberry corn for fall decor. We'll end our garden vlog chatting about a a noninvasive shrub that looks like trumpet vine but is actually a north American native plant called tecoma chicklet gold. Oh, those Asian Tiger mosquitoes are nasty. They look like they were hatched at Jurrasic Park and usually don't show up here until later in the summer. But this year has been a nonstop monsoon. They are one of the most invasive pests in North America and transmit dozens of diseases. Dengue Fever, Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE, West Nile Virus, and more. Also, the primary vector for Chikungunya and heartworm disease in dogs. They've spread over much of the US now. There are traps you can use. I saw a video by Mosquito Joe and there are other ways to tap them. It's scary how prevalent they will this year will so much rain. All it takes is a saucer, or overturned child's toy. So much rain here this year and there are water puddles in low spot clay soil areas that are going to take days to dry. Mosquito Dunks and Bits work well and are supposed to be safe. You can only control your own property, and if neighbors have standing water it creates an annoyance AND health risk for everyone. Very scary for dog and horse owners. So important to use heartworm prevention here, though I hate doing it.

What an exciting video! I was wondering if you had any experience with these fairy trail hydrangeas bc they do well in shade which is what I have in the front of my house. I recently saw a proven winners video and people commented they were disappointed the fairy trail only has one flush of blooms and didn’t realize it when they purchased it. Please keep us updated! Can you disclose where you purchased it I don’t live too far from you. I’m in eastern Berks. Take care in the coming heat! Was wearing sweatshirts and pants four days ago. :

Hi Danielle thanks for introducing the beautiful new hydrangea and gorgeous yellow takolmah ) plant in this video. After harvesting the strawberry popcorn I peel back the husk let it dry out, remove the husk place the ear in a paper bag fold top of the bag over, pop it in the microwave! I do the same with loose popcorn kernels too. Comes out great! Thanks for enduring the heat and humidity to make this video. It's much appreciated.

Hi Danielle! I tried to get a Fairytrail Fresco locally here in southeast Michigan but everyone is sold out. One nursery told me they were grown in a greenhouse and would have to be treated as an annual which is why they couldn’t get more now. Wondering if you’ve heard anything about this

Nothing wrong with your hair. Your new hydrangea looks amazing as do your gardens. Have to try a trailing hydrangea. Fairy Tale Bride looks so pretty as well. Gracie looks great. I love when she makes an appearance. Stay cool. Weather like that headed our way tomorrow. Sandi

Hi Danielle, because I purchased a fairy Trail white hydrangea, I think I now have to do chess or musical chairs in the autumn with my other hydrangeas in my hydrangea bed so that when it does grow and blossom more in year three, it’s not hidden behind my Tuff stuff hydrangea!

FOR THOSE IN ZONE 5b-- Cascade hydrangeas bloom on old wood. YES, the plant might be hardy here in the NE but the stems will die back in average winters -- and you won't get any blooms! You can try to protect the stems with insulation and burlap, if it's worth it to you.

I’m planting Little lime Punch hydrangeas in my newly refurbished quadrant garden. I could only afford the quart size but they will quickly grow I’m sure. I always add Espoma fertilizer to every thing I plant. The beneficial microbes really help things establish well.

I just bought two green fairy trails! I love them! Can’t wait to find a blue one too! I also just bought a variegated hydrangea! Couldn’t believe it when I saw it at the nursery! I hope I didn’t run too quickly. The employees were probably laughing at me!

Hi Danielle! Love the new hydrangea! I think I might have to treat myself to one! Can I ask why you don’t add anything to the soil when you plant shrubs, trees or perennials I watch another very popular gardener that always adds espoma bio tone when planting

I've wanted to try one of the Fairytale hydrangeas but I doubt it would bloom consistently in zone 6. The green one. really caught my eye.
Also I've never seen corn like the strawberry popcorn. No clue what I'd do with it but it is cool looking.

I really want seaside serenade fire island hydrangea. The pictures are gorgeous, but some reviews say it goes from pink and white to straight pink. I also haven't gotten any haas halo yet. It's on my wish list. My growing wishlist.

Hi Danielle-do you have bat houses on your property They might help with the mosquitos. (That blue hydrangea is gorgeousand it’s nice that you put it in a more public spot so your friends and neighbors can enjoy it too)

I have been gardening for along time but I just learned from this video not to put organic soil in the bottom of the hole because the plant could sink when the material breaks down. Makes a lot of sense and great advice.

I have the white trailing hydrangea but it’s not trailing very well and more upright. Not sure why- it’s in a container. Now I’ll be on the lookout for the blue trailing one! I did get a blue Endless Summer this year.

You always provide such great information. Thank you! I didn't know that hydrangeas grow out so that is going to be so useful when I dig a limelight hydrangea and move it. Stay cool! Hugs to Gracie and Rocky

we have blackflies and mosquitos together, it’s been horrible last three years. They come at you with a knife and fork. we wear our hazmat jacket lol, and wear a neck fan to stay cool working in the garden.

Hi Grace! Quick question for the group. With the scorching temperatures descending on most of us is it safe to feed plants now or just water them to keep them going
