I collect natural materials to chink the log cabin (fill in the gaps between the logs, explain how and why I bought milled lumber for the floors and roof. Log cabins require maintenance, and I explain why I need big overhangs on the roof of the cabin for it's long term survival. In this episode, bushcraft comes into play with natural materials collected from nature on the property and carving of a chinking tool for the log cabin. At the end of this episode, I talk about the influence that Zed from Zed Outdoors and Joe Robinet from Joe Robinet bushcraft had on me

I started to say something to you about having those pine logs saw into lumber because that chainsaw mill you have is slow. I'm glad you're doing that. In the last video you were talking about your diploma, well heck have you noticed your subs? Those last 2 videos I watched showed almost a MILLION subs. The views were almost 2, 000, 000. Shawn how many others can come close? I wish I knew how YouTube works. I'm to old now, it would be fun just to know what I could have made.

I would love to build a small primitive cabin to accompany the barn home I will build on my property in the future but there is so much beaurocracy and red tape here in the states VA/NC about building codes it's a deterrent. Where I live now you need city approval/permits to erect a simple darn fence. It's ridiculous. Someone always wants to poke and prod and measure every aspect to where you are put off. It's all a money grab here.

You are a very lucky man to have the skill and stamina for such a project. Also in your favour is how cheap the lumber is. In the U. K. it would cost a small fortune for that quantity of timber and if you could find the land to build it on. Then there would be all the red tape. it's a great thing you are doing and we can only hope it gives others inspiration. keep up the good work. mike

Wow. Amazing work on your cabin. I really enjoy watching the work you do. What amazes me the most is all that timber you are using. How do you mill it all. I see you carrying 2 x 6s that seem to be perfectly milled and dry. do you mill it yourself on the property. I presume you do. Could you please show us how you prepare this wood?

I've been watching everything you have posted and can't get enough. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and lifestyle. I noted a comment from a fan about how he felt you reminded him of a Canadian Kevin Costner--funny, I have had the same thought a few times while watching you work.

Hey on your cabin playlist, can you put them in the order you did them and uploaded? I was watching one video and scrolled to another and realized there were like 5 ones that came before i totally missed. Just helps with viewing the whole process easier.

He's following his bliss and it shows. We should all inspire to do what we love and not be so motivated by the almighty dollar. Thanks for sharing all your thoughts and knowledge. You inspire me to do what I love when I had almost given up. God bless.
