Between meals cooked on the wood stove of venison breakfast sandwiches and bear stew, I build and install floating shelves, spalted birch drawer fronts and and a walnut upper cabinet in the kitchen of my off grid log cabin. inger: Shall you put a sofabed behind the bookshelfs so guests have a place to sleep and with sofas you can sit and chat together in too, a sofa gives room for more people to sosialize. Those shelf-fronts made those shelfs looking very goodWhat is blackbear taste like? I have tryed wild hog sometimes, like it, tryed deer, moose, raindeer, does it taste simular to some of those animals? Cali can t be old, think she was a puppy first time I did see her

Hi Shawn - Just a suggestion (kitchen designer here, lol. You may wish to mount the drawer handles on spacers rather than have them flush to the wood front. Two reasons: 1) If your hands are goopy and you need to open a drawer, it'll be difficult to grab the handle and you'll leave the handle all gooped up when you do grab it and 2) As we get older, handles flush to the drawer are difficult to grab (pain in hands. If you have enough space behind the handle for your fingers to slip behind it, painful hands won't have to grip or bend (or you can use a coat hanger or some other curved object to pull the drawer/cabinet door open - ask me how I know, lol.
I've literally just changed out all of my cabinet drawer and door knobs and 'grips' to handles I can easily slip fingers into or behind.
Cabinets look wonderful overall!

Hey Shawn, i really do enjoy your videos. I started watching you trough the pandemic years. I really enjoyed your outdoor cooking back than and it was amazing to see how you are living your dream - still. However i was wondering how things are really gong for you considering your health, both physical but also mental, as you had to build another beautiful cabin from scratch? I can imagine, that this process was at some points exhausting for you. but maybe iam wrong. What are your thoughts of the future considering your centre of life? Will it be in the cabin completly? I would really enjoy hearing your thoughts about this questions. But of course if these touched to much privacy, please ignore them. I wish you all the best in life as i think you genuienly are a good person. Peace from Europe at the first day of spring: )

Guys, get a life. Hi Shawn, the get a life comment was for some of your followers who are obsessed with being the first to comment, how ridiculous. Thanks for the update and the escape from my useless life. You look like you've lost weight, I hope you're taking care of yourself. The drawer fronts and handles look great. I'm sure by next winter you will have added a bunch of attractive finishing touches to the interior of your cabin.
I watch your videos when they come out which is pretty often and I wonder how much time you actually give to yourself and just enjoying life out there in the wilds. I hope you can find time to enjoy yourself and not just focus on the demanding public. Take care Shawn. Give my best to Cali.

It would be nice if you could string some LED dawn light censor bulbs to the outhouse. That may not be possible where your at though! Just a thought, I guess still it's just as easy to use a flashlight and or more economical.

Dick Proenneke would be proud of your resourcefulness and craftsmanship on your drawer handles and floating shelves. Like your Griswold Dutch oven I have one too. I have made some fine biscuits in mine.

All I can say it is a honor to see a man that's works hard as you finish a project this size. I'm 58 and probably can't do half of what you do. It is a honor seeing someone like your self.

Aren't you excited that spring weather is on it's way? Garden season. We could do without the black flies however. You chose real nice wood for the drawer fronts.

I've never seen anybody in my life who loves peppers, onions & garlic as much as Shawn. Every meal, even breakfast. I'd be sick if I tried half of it!
