We enjoyed today's video a lot. The stars when it pretty well to me. And I like the wood against the wall. The cabin is comming along a lot better on the inside. I was wondering about something and this is not that important yet, it is a little detail, would like to see do. On the straight edges of the table and the ends and side at the top, would like one to round over the straight edges for saftey. The ends can be plained down about 1/8 or more at an angle then sanded more smooth. Just my opinion. A radius if one will on all the top edges of the talbe and benches and stuff. I watch closely as one builds stuff just in case I may have to build something. I knoticed too that the bacon was 1/4 of an inch thick. Is all this grease good for one's heart? The bear is greasey and am not sure about the vension. The fish is ok though, yet, they have some fat too. I am not to crazey about a lot of potatoes. Oh, I get complete pancake mix from the dollar store. To this I add two big eggs and two big scoops of yogart. Mix this together and cook on medium heat until the bubbles for on the top then flip over. These are medium pancakes too. And they are good enough to eat plian or one can put a topping on them. And I make corn cakes too out of a box of jiffey mix. I add two eggs and some yogart again and cook up medium corncakes over medium heat. If the heat is too high they can burn. I eat these plain yet, toppings can be added to them. I eat a lot of beef jerkey, I get it in ten pound bags and then repackage it at home into smaller bags. Beef jerky can be soaked in water to make it softer to chew. It can be cut up and added to soups too. I soak it up in a pennut butter cleaned out jar. And rolled oats can be soaked in milk over night to do away with the cooking of them. A layer of oats, some fruit, some yogart or sour cream, then more layers until the mason jar is full. Enjoy the overnight oats to. Have fun. Try not to work too hard now. Paul

one has got to love when nails sing being hammered in. you KNOW they are tight bound with the wood then.
.
should be near maple harvest time now for you too. hope you re ready for it. the ladies should be back just in time to help with the harvest cook down too
. hope they are having a blast. cuz i cant wait to see Emily's video on some of their doings.
.
now THAT is some nice cut bacon. to go with them pancakes.
.
oh such a perfect place for the ice chest. and those boards under it wont be stressed at all. good n Beefy. Love how the cabin insides are shaping up it already looks like a home. and appears to feel like one. even with Cali snoring after a hard day of fetch LOL
.
oh you picked some gorgeous pieces to cover the kick for the ice chest platform. all you need is a little tub rail at the end of the chest to keep people or things from rolling off there.
.
now this was well worth the watch with the morning coffee. excellent job finishing the cellar access

I thought you were going to do like a trap door for the cellar. It would have given you more floor space and room to bring stuff in. The hand rail although I like it kind of limits the room/space there. I also have a question, down by the little stream why didn t you plant your garden there? It would have been less work, I don t think you would have had to amend the soil, you would not have the roots to contend with. And it would have been easier to water the garden there instead of lugging buckets up to the existing location. Do you have any future plans of extending you garden there? I m sorry if you covered this already, you are usually pretty good of walking us through what your doing. I may have missed that episode. I just love your vlog. (Except that it makes me realize just how lazy I am, lol)

Good stuff as usual! Enjoy the build out of each unique part of the cabin. So detailed. Your imagination comes out in everything you do. Of course, your dedication to learning / reading is an important part of that process. Love the life. First time I watched was way back in the beginning of the first build. I too was enamored with Dick Proennke's film, taken on a good ol' fashioned camera. He's watching you, admiring every step you take, just like we admired his.

I see your shafts all fletched and knocked and burned to satisfaction. I made my own arrows too, learned in Boy Scouts back in the day. I'm 83 but not done yet even if I'm in a wheelchair. My daughter made a fine recurve bow by herself along with a craftsman here on the Big Island of Hawaii, he makes beautiful bows and I'm glad my daughter has taken to archery. I made some fluflu arrows for her and showed her how and where to use them, great fun.

It s coming along great Shawn, glad to see a railing on the basement steps, I was a little nervous every time you walked by them, you still have a lot of snow up there, here in South East Michigan we have nothing, we are in the upper 40 s F all week. I don t know but, I think a wrap around porch would be beautiful on that cabin, and give you more storage for wood in winter months, just a thought, all the best to ya sir.

While I do like this series I think Sean is a great guy I have noticed that first cabin was for him and his wife and she did come there a couple of times the second cabin he refers to as my cabin and it's a bit balmy i to be talking to the dog true his wife and daughter does show up from time to time. Sean has become the Mike Holmes of cabin building and seldom talks about myself reliance

Hi Shawn! Noticed you eating on that side table which seems awkward, turned 90 degrees from your torso. Maybe it's time for a new project. a tray to eat from your chair? I've seen some that latch to tables with a magnet embedded in wood tray and a metal plate in surface it holds to for boats and messy children, maybe that would work here in your case?

That brick tile floor would drive me crazy. The sound it makes, the give it has. I understand why you would want it in a mud room but is there no way to fix the tiles in place? Brushing in sand is probably a bad idea because it would be walked into the cabin but surely you could use some mortar or similar as a base layer and put the tiles on top?

Shawn, You must be getting energized more more with the upcoming vision of what you've got planned for this property. The cabin is truly starting to look like a home. Cali must be everything to you Shawn. She's so obedient, she shows her devotion to you on every episode. No wonder you care for her as father cares for his one and only daughter.

Wow! I m glad you got your stairs out in the cellar, I giggled to watch Cali snoring lol. And you capturing the moon so beautiful like a stained glass moon look through the trees and over your cabin, would make a great photo to frame and put up in your cabin. Your cooking makes me hungry Yummm. Have a blessed day Shawn Karen from Oklahoma

Yes, Shawn. you eat so much bear meat that I believe you have morphed into part bear, which is why you can do so much non-stop work at your age. Don't be offended by that comment, as I think you are awesome in most ways. A friend from Southern California. I am old enough to be your Mom and grammy to your kids. So, don't be frightened!

Are you able to pack some snow in plastic bags and put them in the top part of the icebox and have you thought about harvesting ice in the winter? Also, you mentioned in an earlier video about digging a cistern. Do you still have plans for a cistern? I look forward to your videos every Friday. The cabin looks so homey and comfortable.

You sir, are a master craftsman! Love watching as your hard work transforms raw materials into a beautiful home! I've been watching since you laid down the base layer of half logs on your first cabin and can't wait for new video posts each week. Keep up the great work and thanks for allowing to watch as you progress. Be safe.
