I demonstrate three ways to clean any trout. They include debone, filet, gut and uses for the head John: ? No splitting the head and frying up the little fish cheeks? Like salmon these are tasty little morsels. Or, just toss them into a fish head soup, and the meat falls off.
Newest news. Chondroitin (old age body rebuilder) glucosamine, MSM, hyaluronic acid, is the actual shells of crabs, lobsters, crayfish, and shrimp. Crispy fry these up and eat them. The same for the fins and tails of trout/salmon, good for the body.
Gotta do that fishing pole eyelet pushed down the spine/ribs, and it comes out very clean. Can toss the spine/ribs into the fish soup.

With specks that size I will just butterfly and cut the head. Once the fish is cooked you can pinch your index finger and thumb against the start of the spine just behind where the head was and usually every single bone (rib cage included) will come right out in one piece, and you have a perfectly boneless fried brook trout.

Awesome tutorial! That was really helpful and well presented. Thanks so much! At 5: 08, you throw the guts into the water and there's a delay between them landing and the ripples on the water. Did they roll into the water or did someone grab them? ;)

Have you ever tried the Native American method? It involves you basically shucking the meat right out of there skin leaving just the meat in one hand and the guts and skin in the other hand can clean a fish in 10 seconds doing it.

At 3: 17, you mentioned -blood-, you dont refer to the kidneys do you? Because ive often already heard people talk about the small red strip along the backbone talk about it as -blood-, which in fact are the fishs kidneys

Back at the old fishing hole; there must be an endless supply of fish up stream & down stream waiting to replace the ones you poll out. Thanks for the preparation discussion. Brian 76

Ever try poking the knife from one hollow under the jaw to the other? then pull forward leaving the tongue exposed then hold the tongue and pull the gills and guts all come of with it.

Thanks for the vid! What would you suggest for the fish soup with the heads? Just toss them in boiling water and drink the broth?
