Just saw another use for my Dollar Store -1 6' x 8' party cotton (gill) netting! With wooden framework, make a turtle trap/wier (with lure bait. They crawl into like fish/crayfish trap. 6' x 8' long (with 1 inch square netting) makes for a very big trap (or cut down to size. Use same netting for fish, crayfish, rabbit hole netting snares, spring-loaded trail-run trap netting, spring-loaded fly-over duck/goose/fowl trap-netting, between trees flight path bird netting, snowshoe netting, hanging camp gear net hammock, hanging net framework with inside tyvek film water filtration system, open-air bear hang netting. -1, so many uses!
Turtles taste like muddy chicken, and both chickens and turtles carry salmonella, so keep hands clean, and meat properly cooked/boiled! Rattlesnakes safer to eat! DDDD

That was very neat. As long as you are right by it you are good to go. Old Mr Turtle didn't want to leave did it. Good info. If I were to ever make a turtle trap and catch some I would let them go afterwards myself. They don't get old for nothing and like you said, very few hatch. Good stuff bro. Gonzo.

Awesome video. So the turtle just grabs on and doesn't want to let go of the fish eh? Awesome. Thanks for the share! I remember when i was 10 years old I caught a 10 lbs Pike and it is still one of my finest memories! Always fun to watch kids enjoy the outdoors.

You're pretty brave grabbin that thing. I had no idea you had em that far north. My dad caught one in a little pond at my grandmas old place in Arkansas. I was about 5 and I remember it clear as day. He hissed a bunch. Good job and I like that technique.

Great vid. I had always been under the understanding that if you grabbed a snapping turtle at the sides of the shell they could reach around and bite you but you did it and no problems.

We were out to our favorite swimming hole last evening and saw a snapping turtle bobbing in the waves.
I presume a gorge hook would enable solid retrieval if the need was dire.
