We have been trying to use cut up fresh mullet and about a 5-6 ft leader. What do you think we could possibly be doing wrong?

whats ur rod reel size. my typical setup is a 7 foot medium heavy redbone fod and and a sahara 2500 fe but if i was going there i would put my heavier daiwa 4500, is that good for this
