In this video from a few years ago, author & guide Ian James discusses various techniques for successfully catching trout during periods of low water on rivers. Host Colin McKeown joins Ian on the Grand River in southern Ontario to fish for Brown Trout. Lots of great information to help all anglers

Hmmm. Thunder creek yes. Two split shot right in front of the fly, no. I think it would be more stealthy to place those at least 12 to 16 inches up the leader. I would also use a sparser tie in size ten. The floating fry is good too but I like a more slender tie for these conditions and to more accurately imitate tiny baitfish.

Could you comment on strategy here. it looks like he's almost fishing straight downstream. I thought streamers were supposed to imitate dying baitfish which float downstream as opposed to swimming strongly upstream or up and across as is being done here. Thanks

-A few years ago-. Haha. I love these old ones. Thanks for putting so much of the archive up for us. If I'm not fishing, I'm watching you. Maybe do a premiere with a live chat sometime so we can talk to other anglers about the show. Cheers!

That fly looked like an upside down Clouser minnow. Upside down in that the light color was on the the top and the dark color was on the bottom assuming the fly fishes point up. Keep the good stuff coming.

The sound quality is terrible. I very much wanted to learn from this guy but couldn't understand what he was saying. I finally had to resort to the captions, but 'they' couldn't understand him either!

Coming from Scotland particularly Glasgow I'm disappointed he changed the way we speak, cringed watching this and listening to him - great vid all the same. R. I. P Ian

Where was this part of the grand I live in Ontario by Dunnville and I-m wondering where this part of the grand is where I can fly fish

One of the shining lights of zero-BS fly fishing in Ontario. He was an amazing guy, sorely missed. Thanks for posting this!
