I caught my first and only alligator gar while fishing a striper run in the Leesville river in VA. Around 40lbs. It was also the first fish I ever caught that had teeth That was about 20 years ago. Could be an idea for a video for you. The Leesville river has huge catfish, gar, stripers and walleye. The Flathead fishing there is awesome.

If anyone is from Texas or Louisiana I need help. Im not sure what to do with these gar in my pond. Yeah in a pond which isnt usuall for me but Im not sure if I should take them out because Im 14 and I bass fish in it but here recently the population of my bass and bream as been decreasing.

Such a cool fish, holy shit that was awesome. I'm so glad they're being tracked though, at some point in my life, I want to fish for one, can't exactly do that if they don't exist, so I'm really glad people are paying attention to them.

Did you call the local dnr to register the fish? Its a 5 minute call and it helps them a lot with keeping track of the fish growth and helps the dnr make their fishing regulations so that we can keep enjoying these beautiful monsters: D

Gar are extremely tricky to catch if they feel any tension on the line they let go. They will hold the bait in their mouth and swim with it for a while and then you pull straight up to hook them but they are so much fun to catch

My grandfather told me about when he was swimming with my mother (when she was a child) in a lake, when a huge gar rolled up next to him. He didn't tell my mother, he just turned them both back to the bank and got outta dodge. :D

i hope a strong law will protect them from the craziness inbreed ''humans '' there was gator gar at almost half usa. the good news, since asian carp spread everywhere, they want to add gator gar fry at lots of spot
