Speaking from a little bit of experience when I was attached to some 12B (combat engineers) the boom boom is always going to go in the path of least resistance so you have to cover the open side or youre really doing nothing. The best thing to use is water believe it or not. They always took our expired IV bags. Taped them to the opposite side of the charge and the blast then goes the way you want it to.

Just hint flair but its safe to say the battery's not dead if the tractor is still cranking over. Also you need to put all of the boom boom into one container and stop using what it comes with
