LakeForkGuy, I am trying to expand my arsenal of fishing tactics and recently started finesse fishing. I'm finding it very challenging and was wondering if y'all could give me some insight on shaky-heads. I'm using a 6'6 medium spinning rod paired with a Lews hp300 spinning reel and spooled with 15lb. braid (spider wire) with a 12lb. fluorocarbon leader (spider wire ez fluorocarbon. I'm having issues with my leader breaking on the hook set. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have nearly as much experience as you probably do, but I know I've landed hundreds of fish, including bass, on regular old 90-degree jigheads, whether I was swimming them or hopping them off the bottom. They work because the hook comes up above the eye. I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure it makes as much of a difference as you're saying it does. I guess I would need to experiment a bit before I decide for myself.

Very Informative! Needed this. I picked up Gamakatsu Shaky Heads in Green Pumpkin with the size of 4/0. The hook has a weird bend near the head and it helps me out instead of having a wire keeper. Also, I dont recall you specifying where to throw shaky heads. Ive heard on sand and hard surfaces and under docks work great. Is it pure confidence or does location make an impact?

Love your videos first off. This has always been a why for me. It was hard for me to understand perspective size of the hook without a constant size worm or something else nearby. Also when you reach close with one in your hand, all of the hooks looked big. Great tutorials with lots of thought though, we can tell your passionate about it. Chad

I'm trying to get into a shaky head, I bought some 3/16oz Perfection Lures with some Exosticks but I'm not sure if I'm even doing it right. I've been watching as many videos on here about it. I think I'm gonna actually use the yum dingers or zoom worms until I get the hang of it bc I don't want to be losing or wasting the BioSpawn worms

i use a very similar setup! 7 ft st croix spinning 30 lbs power pro braid to 15 pound seaguar fluorocarbon leader.
it's pulled me out of my slump and now i use this setup as much as possible=)
i use the albright knot though. it's smaller and more powerful in my experience.

Thanks so much I recently started fishing shaky head worms and missed some nice fish and I was thinking it was the length of my rod that prevented me from getting a good hook set. Great video thanks alot!

while i was watching this i found a soft plastic worm in my bed. i was so proud of myself for having so much tackle around. then i realized that it was a piece of spaghetti. i'm such a pig.

You are overloading your mic and causing digital distortion in your audio. The video sounds servile because of it. Make sure you aren't clipping before doing the final recording.
