Way to take it in stride and not flip out.
Some people will slide a split ring attached treble, on their mainline, before tying on the spoon. This arms both ends of the spoon and this hook can slide up and away from the bait offering no leverage. The addition of another split ring to the bottom treble will offer more rotation before binding.
Talk about a nightmare dream sequence. I would expect to wake up yelling, in a pool of sweat. Nooooo!

I like using cranks, but the bass just keep ignoring them. I've use shad, chartuese (however you spell it) and just about every color you could think of. I never even get a bass on the hook! What am I doing wrong? I use it in pretty murky water with little vegetation with a sandy and rocky bottom

I understand the struggle its all gonna be ok. just do what I do and think about that monster that threw the book beside the boat every night and keep trying the same spot and lure thinking one day. sigh
