Fishing a lipless crank bait in the early spring and winter is a good way to get a reaction strike and cover water much faster than fishing a flow sinking bait. When you rip a rattle trap out of the grass for a reaction strike all day, it can be a lot of work and tiring on the arms. Here are a few tips on gear to help you keep it up at the end of the day with out wearing you out too bad

what would be a good bait caster and rod combo that's okay in all categories (cranks baits, soft baits, jigs, etc) for someone who's on a budget?

I have a 7'10 medium heavy rod, Would that be a good one to use. Never used baitcaster. I am planning on using this for my crankbaits though.
